Biographical history

Born in Egthorne, Kent, George Hills became a minister in the Anglican Church. From 1848 to 1859 he served at St. Nicolas, Great Yarmouth, the largest parish in England. In 1859 Hills became the first Bishop of the newly created Diocese of British Columbia. He resigned in 1892 and returned to England.
