Scope and content
Series consists of records that trace the history of the province of British Columbia from the early voyages of discovery made by European explorers through the recent past. The historical documents, photographs, books, maps, pamphlets, and other records in this series illustrate British Columbia's political, social, and cultural history. The scope of these documents includes everything from 18th-century exploration manuscripts to archival records related to the explosion of the S.S. Greenhill Park in the Port of Vancouver in 1945 to tourism brochures from the 1950s and 60s.
This series has been arranged into two subseries: Early British Columbia History, which includes the Pacific Northwest, parts of the western United States, and Canada’s northern Territories, and Early Canadian History.
