Scope and content
This film promotes Hemlock as a building material. It begins with an animation showing how trees grow in the forest setting, and how trees are cut based on clear zones and factory zones, determined by the presence of knots. The film shows the cutting of the hemlock and the drying of the wood, as well as cutting clear lengths for interior paneling. It continues with cutting of clear lengths for interior paneling, the hemlock used in Coquitlam Centre, ladder manufacturing, creation of exterior siding and finger joints, garage doors, sash and window frames, wood frame patio doors, raised door panels, column and spindle construction, and how well hemlock undergoes the process of staining and moulding.
