Fonds represents the function and activities performed by the Council of Forest Industries. The fonds consists of committee meeting minutes, reports, statistics, newsletters, news releases, advertisements produced by the organization, agreements, governance records, briefs, bulletins, correspondence and memoranda, financial records, conference material, legal documents, mills lists, records relating to the International Trade Commission, films and audio material created to train and promote forestry in British Columbia and in Canada, and photographs depicting different mining areas and members of the organization.
The Council of Forest Industries is divided into five sous-fonds: British Columbia Loggers Association sous-fonds, British Columbia Lumber Manufacturers Association sous-fonds, Canadian Pulp and Paper Association (B.C. Division) sous-fonds, British Columbia Plywood Manufacturers Association sous-fonds, and the Consolidated Red Cedar and Shingle Association of British Columbia sous-fonds. The fonds itself is divided into twenty series: circulars, memoranda and correspondence, advertisements, reports, statistics, lists, legal documents, agreements, briefs, bulletins, committees, International Trade Commission, financial records, governance, minutes, newsletters, news releases and audio-visual material.

Annual general meeting minutes.

Sub-series contains records relating to the British Columbia Lumber Manufacturers Association’s Annual General Meetings. Material consists of meeting minutes which include the history of the association, list of committees including the lumber, shingle, Sash and Door branches; legislation, railway rates, labour, logs and press committee, minutes of shareholders meeting for the organization, elections of offices and Board of Directors, amendments to acts such as the Bush Fires Act, discussion of arbitration for disputes in the industry, reports on new grading rule, shareholder certificate books which provides the number of shares owned by an individual, and information about the individual’s profession, location and company as shareholder.
Series also includes pictures of prominent members of lumber associations including J.A. Humbird, Gordon Gibson, A.D. Anderson, L.L.G. Bentley, L.R. Andrews, Tom Wilkinson, J.M. Edwards, W.J. van Dusen, Tom Burgess, H.V. Simpsons and Bill McMahon.

Minutes.

Series consists of meeting minutes related to the British Columbia Lumber Manufacturers Association committees. Material consists of ledger books with meeting minutes pasted inside, type and handwritten minutes.
Minutes are divided into the following sub-series: Annual General Meeting minutes, Canadian Manufacturers Association (B.C. Series includes correspondence, letters, and memoranda relating to the British Columbia Lumber Association. Materials consists of incoming correspondence from forestry associations, annual general meeting notices with members of the association, a reminder for registrations, correspondence concerning the history and the nomination and election of BCLMA members, correspondences and letters concerning Australia’s tariff policy, correspondence regarding the Timber Industries Council of British Columbia, correspondence with the Medical Services Association, correspondence regarding medical insurance and salaries, and overseas correspondence to BCLMA’s partners in the United Kingdom, France, Sweden, Russia, and Japan.

Reports.

Series contains reports relating to the British Columbia Lumber Manufacturers Association. Materials consist of reports from the Market Committee outlines shingles in Northwest and Eastern Canada, a copy of a paper by R. H. Alexander, net price information concerning the Prairie and Eastern Canadian markets, the development of forest policy in British Columbia, prices with shipping weights, and rail lists. Also included is a detailed report on lumber exports by product, lumber exports by species, distribution figures, and production in the post-war Canadian market. Also include are the annual reports of the activities of different BCLMA committees for each year.

Lumber Mills Branch meetings.

Sub-series contains meeting minutes relating to the Lumber Mills Branch meetings, a division of the British Columbia Lumber Manufacturers Association. Materials consists of minute books which document the meetings proceedings including issues such as lumber exports to the United States, market surveys, transportation rates, and reports from various sub-committees.

Series contains lists of lumber mills used by the British Columbia Lumber Manufacturers Association. Materials consist of list of members mills located throughout British Columbia and a list of officers and committees that form the BCLMA.

Sous-fonds reflects the functions and activities of the British Columbia Loggers Association. The sous-fonds consists of committee records, the association’s by-laws and constitution, financial records including audited financial statements, deposits and disbursements made by the association, minutes from several different meeting groups including directors meetings, executive council of B.C. Loggers Association meeting minutes, finance management meeting minutes, and general meeting minutes, reports generated by the B.C. Loggers association and various statistics.
The sous-fonds has been divided into seven series based on the association’s different functions: by-laws and constitution, circulars, committees, financial records, minutes reports, and statistics.

Material consists of meeting minutes, details concerning the grading of cedar logs, the incorporation of the association, new rules and procedures for committees, committee reports, the approval of meeting minutes, and reports on the auditing of the B.C. Loggers Association’s accounts.

Series consists of meeting minutes related to the British Columbia Loggers Association committees. Material consists of ledger books with meeting minutes pasted inside, type and handwritten minutes. The series has been divided into four sub series: Directors Meetings, General Meetings, Financial Management Committee, and Executive Council of B.C. Loggers Division.

Administration.

Series contains records relating to the administration of the British Columbia Lumber Manufacturers Association. Material consists of company letterheads from forestry related companies, the record containing information about the core functions of the association; general advertising conducted by the association, Societies Act circulars, invitations and menus from the annual banquet, and the general organization and plans of the association.

By-laws and constitutions.

This series contains the by-laws and constitution of the British Columbia Loggers Association. The records include a by-law from 1926 and the 1949 amended by-law for the Association. The series also includes the Logger Association’s membership Act, the Benevolent Societies Act, Extraordinary Resolutions, and amendment to the Criminal Code with a particular attention to the theft of logs.
