Document commissioning David Cameron to the position of Chief-Justice in the Colony of Vancouver's Island by command of James Douglas, Governor, and written by Philip Hawkin, Colonial Secretary. The document is handwritten, with the seal of the colony of the Island of Vancouver affixed, signed James Douglas adjacent to the seal in the upper left corner, and has been folded twice. Document is framed along with a photograph of Douglas located in the lower left corner.

Shipping contract

Document outlines details of the contract between Lee Ying and Tung Fat. The contract covers details about the pricing and condition of rice being shipped to Victoria. On the top left hand corner of the document are some Chinese characters with the two parties names, Tung 同 and Lee 李, being legible. There is also some pre-Republican Chinese written verso.
