File contains the meeting minutes and correspondence of the Association of University and College Employees, Local 1, and its successor the Canadian University Employees (CUE). The CUE records date from December 10, 1985 to October 7, 1985, and the AUCE records date from September 18, 1985 to January 8, 1985. File also contains a chart of accounts, agendas, a memo, and notes.

The papers consist of McLennan's reminiscences of his Fairview days and life as a Rhodes scholar. Also included is a series of correspondence dating from 1924 to 1976. The correspondence has been arranged in two ways. The general correspondence has been simply arranged chronologically while other letters and cards, which McLennan sent to the Archives as identified groups, have been maintained as such. The papers also include printed material from the Canadian Association of Rhodes Scholars and Balliol College.

The fonds contains correspondence, drafts of Luft’s books and papers, mathematical proofs and notes of Luft’s concepts, notes on the work of other mathematicians work, work records about Luft’s time at UBC, records created while Luft was a student, and ephemera. It consists of the following series: Correspondence, Scholastic years in Germany, Teaching and Work Records, Mathematics Department, Luft Papers, Proofs and Notes, and Ephemera Series.

File contains several publications, leaflets, and bulletins, dated 1973 to 1974, including undated document entitled "Forming A Union" and clipping of 'How to Form A Union" from White Collar, a publication of the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OTEU), AFL-CIO and CIC, Labour Code of British Columbia Act, A.U.C.E. informational leaflets, and Hospital Employee's Union Proposed Settlement. Topics discussed include forming a union, reasons to join the union, wages and negotiations. File contains a publication from the Office and Professional Employees International Union, a copy of the 1974 Labour Code of British Columbia, and several leaflets and reports.

File contains a poster "Defend the 18" a dance benefiting the defense of SFU employees arrested while on strike in March 1979.

File contains clippings and photocopies of news stories, dated May 31, 1974 to December 14, 1974. Topics discussed include contracts, an AUCE strike, union organizing, and university finances and budgeting.

File contains materials relating to the formation of the Association of University and College Employees, including two issues of the AUCE Local 1 newsletter Across Campus, photocopies of articles, a report on the history of CUPE 2950 (AUCE successor), and an account of signing the first AUCE collective agreement, dated 1972 to 1999.

Across Campus Volume 2, Issue 5, April 1, 1974, urges members to vote for AUCE Local 1 (UBC) to represent library and clerical staff at UBC, and includes information on division meetings and stewards.

Across Campus Volume 2, Issue 8, June 4, 1974, describes a mass contract study session undertaken by 831 AUCE members, negotiations with UBC, a meeting notice, mediation strategies, powers of the executive, the grievance committee, provincial union representatives, notice of bylaw amendment, wage demands, AUCE members working at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH), statement of income and expenses for September 24, 1973 to May 15, 1974, UBC wage proposals, the treasurer's report including proposed expenditures for furniture and office equipment, and office staffing and duties.

Other topics discussed include a comparision of employee rights and benefits from the 1970s to the 1990s, discussions about other unions (OTEU, CUPE), wages, organizing, membership, voting, contracts, negotiation, benefits, and the history of unions in Canada.

File contains materials relating to the 1992 CUPE strike, including photocopies of articles and photographs (originals moved, see below) and news clippings dated February 20, 1992 to March 26, 1992. Topics discussed include background information on the strike, working conditions and wages, pay equity, negotiation, effects of the strike, scabs and strikebreakers, UBC student, administration, and faculty responses to the strike, a B.C. The fonds consists of six series which contain the following: student publications, curriculum offerings and course descriptions, handbooks, examinations, faculty information, committee meetings, interdepartmental memoranda and correspondence, meeting reports and annual reports, elections, curriculum revisions, reading lists, a “departmental bible,” departmental newsletters and bulletins, departmental meeting minutes, council policy and membership, reorganization proposals, and task force information, notable alumni ephemera, and the UBC Medal for Canadian Biography All records are the results of activities that took place within the Department of English from 1940 to the early 2000s.

The collection consists of programs, tickets and program notes of Cinema 16 accumulated by A.C. Killip.

The collection consists of exhibits, videotapes and documents collected for the Public Complaints Commission (PCC), correspondence and legal documents related to both the PCC and related legal actions, APEC Alert posters, information, pamphlets and ephemera, other material collected and created by Oppenheim with regard to the events surrounding APEC and the RCMP PCC, transcripts of the PCC proceedings, and a number of photographs.

The fonds consists of minutes from the Departments of Asian Studies (1968-1992) and History (1964-1992) as well as committee material and other records generated by these two units (1962-1992). In addition, Harnetty has provided several detailed lists which serve as abstracts for much of the material. The fonds also includes copies of speeches by Harnetty between 1961 and 1966, course material from 1985 to 1992, and other ephemera.

Topics discussed include the benefits of union membership, the history of AUCE, membership and application forms, and outlines of charter meeting minutes. File also contains meeting minutes from the founding convention of the AUCE, dated August 29, 1973, and the charter of Local 5 (Malaspina College), dated November 24, 1974.

File contains press releases and clippings, strike bulletins, picketing materials, and correspondence, dated April 11, 1980 to April 29, 1980. Topics discussed include contracts, cost of living compared to wages, strike votes, negotiations, picketing, organizing the strike, AUCE financial information, Prince Charles' visit to UBC, contract committee activities, pay schedules, and a list of shop stewards.

File contains notes of credit for expenses to be charged to schooner "Lily," also called "Lilly," as well as receipts of funds received by "Lilly."

File contains three envelopes of newspaper clippings relating to the 1992 CUPE strike, dated December 9, 1992 to August 13, 1992. Topics discussed include equity, women in the workplace, finances, strikes, crossing picket lines, court injunctions, other unions such as the HEU, student actions supporting or opposing the CUPE strike, and university policy for students during the strike. File also contains several complete issues of newspapers such as the Ubyssey and the first issue of the UBC Student dated March 17, 1992.

The records of the Department of Athletics and Recreation fonds are representative of the athletics side of the Department of Athletics and Recreation. While athletics and recreation fall under the same department, in practice, they operate independently of one another. Their textual records are also physically held at separate locations. Surviving records in the Department of Athletics and Recreation fonds are broadly representative of the achievements of UBC athletes and teams. Far less extensive, are the types of administrative documents produced or accumulated in the course of the day-to-day business of the department. Examples of records present in the fonds include programs, historical research, scrapbooks, newspaper clippings, team rosters, scoresheets, profile write-ups, yearbooks, media guides, correspondence, agendas, training schedules, coaching handbooks, travel itineraries, and ephemera.
The Department of Athletics and Recreation fonds is arranged in the following series; Athletics photographs, Athletics History, Baseball, Basketball, Athletic Events (including Big Block, Hall of Fame, and Millennium Breakfast), Cross Country Track and Field, Field Hockey, Football, Golf, Ice Hockey, Media & Promotions, Assorted Sports, Other Sports (which includes Skiing, Sailing, Tennis, Gymnastics, Rowing and Wrestling), Rugby, Soccer, Swimming and Volleyball.

The fonds consists of Cyril Belshaw's personal and professional papers. The professional records chronicle both his involvement in numerous local, national, and international organizations (including the Academic Board for Higher Education in British Columbia, the Regional Training Centre for United Nations Fellows, the Social Science Research Council of Canada, the Pacific Sciences Association, UNESCO, and the Canadian Sociology and Anthropology Association), and his teaching and administrative activities at UBC. The records also include his original research material and data into various groups in the South Pacific, and other topics in anthropology. More personal records related to his education and family. Also included are materials about the disappearance and subsequent inquiry into the death of Betty Joy Belshaw. The materials include meeting minutes, course materials, publications, manuscripts, research journals, personal diaries and agendas, financial statements, press clippings, photographs, maps and audio-visual materials.

Fonds consists of a variety of documents and memorabilia acquired by J. Allan Jones during his time as a UBC student, and includes exam papers, dance cards, announcements for 1928 graduating class events, photographs, and his wife's graduation and teacher training certificates.
