[International women's year newsletters and other materials]

File contains newsletters in French and English and other records related to International Women's Year (IWY), dated November 1974 to July 1975.

Vol. 1, no. 4, November 1974, includes information on funding, criteria for IWY projects, submission guidelines, types of funding available, and an overview of relevant government agencies along with their addresses.

Vol. 1, no. 5, December 1974, features a message from Marc Lalonde, the Minister Responsible for the Status of Women, discussing the Canadian government's plan for the year including legislation, increasing awareness, and providing funding. File contains copies of outgoing executive correspondence dated November 1, 1975 to November 22, 1976. Topics include press communications, union representatives and representation, the Anti-Inflation Board (AIB), executive and membership meetings, communciations and negotiations with UBC, collective agreements, grievance, union jurisdiction and exemption, cooperation with other unions, maternity leave, job classifications and descriptions, seniority, layoffs, steward seminars, striking, strike fund, arbitration, new employee orientation, status of women, interpretation of by-laws and collective agreement, retirement, office plant repotting, finances, employee transfers, correspondence, union office organization, land lease increase, and union elections. Office log

File consists of the Union Organizer's handwritten office log, dated November 3rd, 1975 to November 17, 1976. The log documents the Organizer's duties and activities, including general administration and organization, phone calls, speaking to members, preparing reports, compiling arbitration cases, office renovation, peparing for membership meetings, writing newsletter articles, recordkeeping, and constructing an office manual.

File also contains correspondence, a Civil Engineering Department list, administrative instructions, reports written by the Organizer, meeting notes, committee membership lists and terms of reference, an executive membership list, and a library loan list.

File also contains "Strike Progress" material, documenting AUCE's strike activity and administration in December 1975. Records include activity logs, an official brief to UBC's Board of Governors, executive meeting minutes, a transcript of a meeting between AUCE and the BC Federation of Labour, and correspondence.

Local 1 Executive minutes (2 of 2)

File contains meeting minutes dated January 6, 1976 to December 7, 1976. Topics discussed include the strike and strike committee report, disciplinary actions against scabs, correspondence, anti-inflation legislation, interactions with other unions (CUPE, SORWUC, HEU, the Vancouver Taxi Union), contracts, staffing, role of executive members, bylaws and amendments in regards to discipline, grievances and arbitration, information on Pentacare daycare centre, housing at UBC, the strike at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH), maternity leave, and banning smoking during executive meetings. File also contains several agendas, committee documents and recommendations, as well as a memo.

[Notebooks of provincial executive minutes]

File contains four notebooks of Melody Rudd, member of Executive Committee. Four handwritten exercise books (notebooks) containing notes on union activities in the form of phone numbers, addresses, to-do lists, lists of supplies, calculations, financial information, scheduling, drafts of correspondence, questions, information about the newsletter, and the activities of Locals 1-6. One of the notebooks appears to have been used for class or personal notes as it mostly contains psychology and mental health information with a section on union and strike activities at the end.
