Consolidated Red Cedar and Shingle Association of British Columbia sous-fonds.

Sous-fonds reflects the organization, function, and activities of the Consolidated Red Cedar Shingles Association of British Columbia (CRCSA). Materials include circulars generated by the association, correspondence on the topic of shingles, reports on shingle production on the Pacific Coast, cost of shingles, and history of shingle control, projects including one dedicated to the Cedar Canoe Exhibit in Staley Park, transcripts from the Sloan Commission, briefs, bulletins, scrapbooks with forestry related articles pasted on the pages, lists of shingle mills, financial records, advertising and trademark records relating to Edgewood and minutes of the associations committees.

Statistics.

Series contains statistics relating to the Council of Forest Industries activities. Material consists of statistics regard the shingle and shake and lumber exports from Canada to the United States, statistics of Certigrade Shingles and Certi-Split Shake production by grade and type, Red band Shingle Conversion Table, figures on the
shipment of shingle and shakes to external markets, shingle and shake export figures, and shingle and shake exports by country.

Photographs

Series contains photographs from the British Columbia Manufacturers Lumber Association. Material consists of one photo album depicting logging and sawmills on and near Queen’s Charlotte’s Island, B.C. These photographs also depict timber company edifices, and photographs of loggers.

Directors meetings.

Sub-series contains meeting minutes from the British Columbia Loggers Association Directors committee. Materials consists of ledger books with meeting minutes pasted inside, which document the core functions and forestry, more specifically logging, related issues, their follow-up and consultation with other interested organizations. Also included are meeting minutes that discuss the Association’s finances, reports from various organizations including the Council of Forest Industries, and a discussion of topics including Timber Land Assessment procedures, stumpages, publicity, and forest fire protection.

Reports.

Series contains reports relating to the British Columbia Loggers Association. Material consists of reports outlining the Association’s core activities, monthly log scaling reports, and weekly log sales reports, a list of lumber grading rules, average log prices, timber sales, unsold logs reports, lumber price lists, promotion division reports, shareholder reports, and a map of the Nimpkish Forest.

General Industries Committee meetings.

Series contains general industries committee meeting minutes a committee of the British Columbia Lumber Manufacturers Association. Materials consist of meeting minutes recording various topics discussed during the committee meetings including the 8 hour Day Bill, about the committee’s finances, publicity of the reasons the eight hour bill would be detrimental to lumber workers and workers compensation.

Correspondence.

Series consists of correspondence concerning the meeting dates and times of committees, draft declaration and by-laws for the association, correspondence concerning the appointment of new directors, that concerning the matters necessary to complete the incorporation and organization of the association, the promotion of the association, correspondence regarding standards and various booklets between the United States Government and CRCSA, regarding shingle grading, and correspondence with lawyers regarding the duty of shingles.

Timber Council Director’s meetings

Sub-series contains of Timber Council Director’s meeting minutes, which relate to the British Columbia Lumber Manufacturers Association. Materials consist of minutes that cover the expenditure for developing the market for B.C. wood products, the future of the council, the election of officers, financial statements, and the council’s reorganization.

Statistics.

Series includes statistics relating to the British Columbia Lumber Manufacturers Association. Materials consist of a comparison of logging and sawmill workers by nationality and statistics from the Bureau of Economics on commodities from British Columbia that are exported to foreign countries.

Directors meetings.

Sub-series contain minutes related to director meetings of the British Columbia Lumber Manufacturers Association. Material consists of meeting minutes describing committee reports, applications for membership, highlights important correspondence between individuals and the BCLMA, and discusses subjects such as the U.K. Timber Development Association, timber control, and trade extension.

Circulars.

Series contains circulars relating to the British Columbia Loggers Association. Material consists of circulars that provide information on the stock, production and consumption of logs, log stocks, sold and unsold logs at market, quality of logs, details about stocks at mills, and log consumption by district.
