The collection contains three binders of 198 cards from a variety of First Nations Northwest Coast artists, predominantly Robert Davidson, but also including Bill Reid, Roy Henry Vickers, Arthur Thompson, Joe David, David Seymour, Ron Hamilton, Stan Greene, Freda Diesing, Ken Mowatt, Richard Hunt, and others. The cards were collected by the MacDonalds starting in the 1960s. Many of the cards were intended by the artists for use in local potlatches, weddings, housewarmings, graduations, births, funerals, and other major life events and include inscriptions and/or notes from the artists to the MacDonalds.

The fonds consists of letters created or received by Paul Tiessen regarding the movie-going practices and environments of Malcolm Lowry. Letters were created from 1968-1988 and address five main topics of Tiessen’s queries: Lowry’s early years (1909-1927); visit to Bonn, Germany (1928); education at the University of Cambridge (1929-1932); time in the United States, particularly Hollywood; and settlement and activities in Vancouver, especially in relation to the local Film Society movement. Significant correspondents represented in the collection include the following: Russell Lowry, brother of Malcolm Lowry; Margerie Lowry, Malcolm Lowry’s widow; Muriel Bradbrook, Cambridge professor and author of a Lowry biography; Rachael Low, film historian; Gerald Noxon, Lowry’s Canadian friend; Christopher Isherwood, author and Hollywood reader of one of Lowry’s film scripts; and Earl and Esther Birney, Lowry’s friends and attendees of Vancouver Film Society screenings.

Letters are arranged in subject files dedicated to particular correspondents (e.g. Russell Lowry) or areas of Tiessen’s inquiry (e.g. Lowry’s time in Germany). Letters in files are arranged chronologically. Documentary forms include correspondence (handwritten and typed), copies of the Malcolm Lowry Newsletter, newspaper clippings, a pamphlet from the British Film Institute, photocopies of various journal articles, and library photoduplication order forms.

This collection consists of materials related to early British Columbia history in the years when BC was still a British colony, prior to joining Canada in 1871. The collection consists of colonial government documents (proclamations, messages, acts, and rules and regulations) effecting the daily life of British Columbians. These include real estate titles, road works, railways, local, legal and financial matters, labour, and infrastructure. The collection includes proclamations by James Douglas, who was the first governor of BC and served from 1858-1864.

The fonds consists of materials created and accumulated by Heroldine Copp in relation to her long involvement with the Vancouver-Burrard Liberal Association. It includes journals of the House, correspondence relating to sessions and group activities, membership lists, reports, press clippings, press releases, records relating to playground development in urban housing complexes, records reflecting the administration and operations of the Parliament, and photographs.

The fonds consists of ninety-four original watercolours of British Columbian life, mainly of social life, customs, and dress in Hudson's Bay Company posts and along various transportation routes (1874-1880). Sketch book includes four photographs of Fort McLeod, Stuart Lake and the artist. An accrual to the fonds fonds consists of artwork and a published memoir of H. Bullock-Webster. The artworks depict scenes from the daily life Bullock-Webster experienced managing the trade post in Northern British Columbia in the late 19th century. Nine original pieces are included along with ca. 35 clippings of artwork, comics, and illustrations published in The Graphic magazine. The included memoir, entitled, Memories of Sports and Travel Fifty Years Ago: From the Hudson’s Bay Company to New Zealand, contains the author’s account of his young adulthood in Britain, his work for the Hudson Bay Company, and his emigration to New Zealand, along with several illustrations by the author.

The fonds consists of audio cassettes of interviews (100) with a variety of personalities (79) from the fields of entertainment, politics, and the professions relating to their careers and issues of the day recorded on radio talk show programmes at KSFO San Francisco (1), CKNW Vancouver (57), KGO San Francisco (10), CJOR Vancouver (23), WNIS Norfolk (3), XRA San Diego (5), and KCBS San Francisco (1) from 1960 to 1990. Some of the tapes include questions from listeners to the talk show guests. The people interviewed by Art Finley included some of the prominent personalities and newsmakers of the 1970s and early 1980s: Mohammed Ali, Joan Baez, Bill Graham, Germaine Greer, Henry Heimlich, Yousuf Karsh, John Lennon, Henry Morgentaler, Huey Newton, Pierre Trudeau, and Gore Vidal.

The fonds consists of correspondence, subject files and photograph albums pertaining to the Fullers' professional careers, labour activities and personal lives. The fonds also contains materials which reflect the activities of the Labour History Provincial Specialist Association of the BCTF and the Sechelt Indian Curriculum Project and a film, "For Twenty Cents a Day".

The fonds primarily contains the organizational, administrative, and operational records of the V.I.P.O.W.C. and the Irish Solidarity Committee dating from 1977 to 1994. The fonds also includes 165 audio cassettes of Saoirse Eirleann. The fonds divides into three series: The Textual Material Series, the Saoirse Eirleann Audio Cassette Series, and the Events Material Series.

The fonds consists of records created and collected by John A. Munro in the course of his research and writing on the careers of Gordon Churchill, John George Diefenbaker, Jack Horner, Carl Nickle, Lester B. Pearson, H.H. Stevens, David J. Walker, W.A.C. Bennett, Derrick Humphreys, Gordon Wilson, a holocaust survivor, Michel Mielnicki, and the Edelweiss Credit Union. It also includes Munro's works on Canadian External Relations, 1936-1939, the Atherton railway accident case, the Alaska Boundary Dispute, "Tai Tai", the China experiences of Dr. and Mrs. Ralph Outerbridge (includes diaries, 1938-1950 and manuscripts), material relating to the publication of "Beyond the Moongate", research on British Columbia and Confederation, and a biography on Senator David A. Croll. Fonds includes a notebook of Lester B. Pearson and a letter to Pearson from Norman Hiller regarding the Riddell incident and material relating to screenplays, including "Blue Ribbon".

The fonds consists of drafts of a long version and a short version of an unpublished manuscript, "Running Scared", as well as notebooks and subject files dealing with the consequences of dieselization of the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) in the Revelstoke Division betweek 1957 and 1984. Powell collected extensive documentation from the relevant unions, Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen and the United Transportation Union, in response to this event and it is included in the fonds.

The Jim Hamm Documentary Film Collection consists of materials relating to three of his documentary films: "The Air We Breathe" (1996), "Between the Rock and a Hard Place" (1997) and "Turning Down the Heat" (1999). "The Air We Breathe" was a co-production of Jim Hamm and the National Film Board. It is an examination of the problem of smog in relation to political decisions, dependency on automobiles, and social-cultural forces. Hamm acted as co-producer, script writer and director. The film was broadcast on the CBC, WTN, SCN, Knowledge Network and Access Alberta. "Between the Rock and a Hard Place" was produced in association with CBC Newsworld. It is the story of Newfoundlanders who leave their home province after the collapse of the cod fishery, ironically finding work in the exploit of another natural resource in Fort Nelson, British Columbia. The film was aired on CBC Newsworld and on CBC Newfoundland. "Turning Down the Heat" was co-produced with the National Film Board in association with CBCs program "The Nature of Things," narrated by David Suzuki. The film showcases viable solutions to climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Hamm acted as director, co-producer and co-script writer. The film was aired on "The Nature of Things," and has other screenings nationally and internationally. Storage issues dictate that the textual materials relating to these films and the audio visual materials be separated, so the fonds therefore contains the series: "The Air We Breathe" Textual Materials series, "Turning Down the Heat" Textual Materials series, "Between the Rock and a Hard Place" Textual Materials series, "Turning Down the Heat" Audio/visual Materials series, "The Air We Breathe" Audio/visual Materials series, and "Between the Rock and a Hard Place" Audio/visual Materials series. The largest division of the collection is the audio/visual materials.

The fonds consists of original as well as published maps pertaining to B.C. geology used by Hall.

The fonds consists of photocopied minute books of the Finnish Workers' Association "Raivaija" (1910-1918), Finnish Organization of Canada, Local No. 55 (1934-1969), and Webster's Corner Socialist Local (1922-1955). The fonds also includes photocopies of financial records of Local No. 55 (1949-1957) and of subject files pertaining to the development of the Finnish culture in Canada.

The fonds includes records of the International Military Tribunal for the Far East (1946-47). It includes trial transcripts, biographical information on defendants, prosecution evidence, and copies of contemporary news accounts and interpretations of the trials. Research notes including printed materials, photographs, ephemera, and interview transcripts used for the writing of hundreds of short articles, news programmes, and full-length books (manuscripts also included in the collection), correspondence, and radio programme transcripts reflect Conde's integral involvement in Asian foreign affairs.

The fonds consists primarily of material generated by Edward Odlum (1850-1935). It includes drafts of Edward Odlum's A Dictionary of Classical Antiquity, references to the Israelite movement and material he wrote and collected about Japan (1888-1927). It also includes editorial cartoons (1939-1943) which were collected [by Victor?] after Edward's death.

The fonds consists of a photocopied letterpress copybook used in consul business between 1914 and 1915. The correspondence was generated under the direction of Chinese consul Lin Shih Yuan.

The fonds consists of records reflecting McDonald's career with the Greater Vancouver Regional Planning Board. It includes subject files, press clippings, and printed material. The fonds also includes records relating to planning the development of Kitimat, B.C. and in the province, in general.

The fonds consists of the subject files, posters, photographs and pamphlets relating to the activities of the Revolutionary Workers League and its predecessors the League for Social Action, Socialist Educational League and the Revolutionary Workers Party. Research and subject files contain information on unions and the labour movement. Fonds includes correspondence and meeting programs.

Fonds consists of records that reflect McKenzie's law and political career. Records include correspondence, speeches and articles, ephemera collected by him, scrapbooks documenting various campaigns and printed materials related to C.C.F. and labour movements.

A small portion of records were created by McKenzie's brother, Arthur McKenzie. These include correspondences and articles written by Arthur in the form of clippings.
