The fonds consists of 134 cassette tapes of 91 interviews with Japanese Canadians and two bound volumes containing an index to individuals interviewed, data sheets and consent forms for use of the material.

The collection consists of approximately fifty small collections or fonds donated by individuals and organizations. It includes material (including photographs) from the following individuals or organizations: Yoshimitsu Akagawa, Rintaro Hayashi, Japanese Fishermen's Benevolent Association, Kishizo Kimura, Masajiro Miyazaki, Japanese Canadian Citizens' Association, Hideichi Nosaka, Yoshio Ono, Yukio Shimoda, Rinkichi Tagashira, Shingeichi Uchibori, Chiyo Umezuki, Tokikazu Tanaka, Yasutaro Yamaga, Tameo Kanabara, Richmond Berry Growers Association, Shogo Kobayashi, Skeena Fishermen's Association, Jisaburo Wakabayashi, J. Uno, Camp and Mill Workers Federal Labour Union, and Mitsuru Shimpo. The collection encompasses a wide range of topics including relocation to internment camps during World War II, farming, lumbering, religious activities, and personal reminiscences, as well as various organizational records. Individual collections have been arranged and described separately and filed in alphabetical order. Most of the manuscript material has been photocopied from original documents.

The collection consists of letters signed by prominent historical figures including Napoleon I, Winston Churchill, Benjamin Disraeli, John Jellicoe, Robert Peel, William Pitt, August-Norbert Morin, and the Duke of Wellington.

Jordon between 1955 and 1972 during the research and publication of her article, "Kootenay Reclamation and Colonization Scheme and William Adolph Baillie-Grohman" (ca. 1883-1972); photocopies of the typescript "Old Days on the Pacific Coast," by W.A. Baillie-Grohman and correspondence regarding its publication (1910-1971); correspondence and photographs regarding Sir Sandford Fleming (1959); typescript of the Presidential Address to the British Columbia Historical Society and photocopies of the typescript "British Columbia," written by Florence Baillie-Grohman (1968); typescript of the article, "What Might Have Been Our Fate," written by Vice Admiral H.T. Baillie-Grohman and correspondence regarding its publication (1967); correspondence and newspaper clippings pertaining to the article, "First Steamboat on Kootenay Waters" (1954-1968); photographs of the Baillie-Grohman family and the East Kootenay area (ca. 1904-1968); photograph and typescripts of articles pertaining to commemorative plaques in the Kootenay area (1957-1958); photocopy of the introduction, "The End of Old Man Fowler," written by W.A. Baillie-Grohman.

The fonds consists of records relating to issues such as amnesty, selective service and Canadian aid groups for draft resistors. Included is correspondence from the Vancouver Committee to Aid American War Objectors (1968-1975), questionnaires, related information and analysis (1969/70), interview transcripts, clippings, notes and printed material. The material was created during the writing of Kasinsky's book entitled, "Refugees from Militarism: Draft-Age Americans in Canada".

These papers consist of 5 metres of Stuart Keate's personal papers which he kept in files at the office or at home. They span the years 1918(?) to his death in 1987. The bulk of the collection dates from 1943 to 1987. The majority of the records are textual records. Other media include 268 photographs, one negative and 14 tape recordings.
The papers cover four main areas of interest. Firstly, they provide background information on policy and editorial decisions made by Keate, his superiors and his staff when he was publisher at the Vancouver Sun, the Victoria Daily Province and Bureau Chief for Time Magazine in Montreal.
Information concerning publishing and editorial decisions can be found in those files of memos and correspondence between Keate and Bruce Hutchison, Max Bell, R .A . Malone, G .N .M . Currie, F .P . Pulbications Limited and Allan Fotheringham and a few other members of The Vancouver Sun staff. These will mainly be found in the Victoria Daily Times and The Vancouver Sun files. There are also some files in Keate's home files. Files of letters and ideas for his book, Paper Boy, which was published in 1980, provide further information on policy and editorial positions as well as much information on newspaper magnate Max Bell about whom he wanted one day to write a book.
Secondly, these papers provide an insight into Keate's wide range of interests, activities and involvement in the community and public affairs particularly in the 1960s and 1970s. There are copies of over 150 speeches written by Keate. There are a series of notes, letters and a report he prepared for the federal government as a neutral mediator in 1966 dealing with the CBC's handling of personnel of the program, "This Hour Has Seven Days." Numerous correspondence files with service, recreational and community groups as well as scrapbooks, tape recordings and photographs of sportsmen and political figures furnish a picture of a man keenly interested in his city, province, and country.
Thirdly, the files cover his experiences as an information officer for the Department of National Defence - Naval Service during the second World War. They consist of correspondence with his wife, with the Department of National Defense Naval Office and a diary written while on board the ship the HMSS Uganda in 1945.
Fourthly, they show Keate, the author, at work. There are a number of drafts as well as correspondence relating to his book, Paper Boy. Various manuscripts in the collection also document his writing activities.

The fonds consists of agreements and printed material detailing the activities of the United Steelworkers of America in British Columbia (1966-1973) and personal correspondence relating to King's activities (1973-1975).

The fonds consists primarily of letters, both business and personal, many regarding manuscripts submitted to or published by Klanak Press. Other materials include press releases, invoices, order forms, mailing lists, Social Service Tax forms, book reviews, and poetry manuscripts by Gwendolyn MacEwen, Florence McNeil and Laurence Soule.

The fonds consists of two alphabetically-arranged subject files (1940-1965). It also includes records relating to parties and social functions (1942-1971), universities [primarily UBC] (1940-1963), the Faculty Club (1956-1962) and Thea Koerner House at UBC (1960/61) and the Leon and Thea Koerner Foundation (1966-1972). Koerner also maintained two personal names series (1939-1972).

The fonds is arranged generally into series regarding Kogawa's written works; correspondence; documents related to conferences, speeches, organizations, and interviews; teaching materials; personal and legal records; family documents, other people's works; sound recordings; videocassette recordings; publications; subject files; and photographs.

The fonds consists of personal files of the president of the BCTF (1981-1984) which chronicle both the Federation's activity as well as Kuehn's involvement with the labour Solidarity Coalition. More broadly, the fonds documents various aspects of provincial government cutbacks in education.

Record types include correspondence, minutes of meetings, agreements, booklets, policies, reports, constitutions, information on other unions , booklets, financial and operating statements, ledgers, particulars on union members, manuals, arbitration cases, and reference material. The bulk of the records fall in the active period of the Union, which was between 1945 and 1980 ; a few records dealing with winding up the Union were also created in 1981 .
