The fonds consists of handwritten minutes from a special meeting (March 1917) of the Class of 1916 at which members discussed the possibility of establishing an Alumni Association. Also included are two scrapbooks. The first, assembled by A. Irene (Vermilyea) Menzies in 1972, provides information about the class's members after graduation, university faculty, and the early history of the university, handwritten with newspaper clippings. The second scrapbook includes biographical information about early UBC graduates from 1916 to 1922 – handwritten, with clippings from Annual yearbooks.

The materials are sorted into three series: Swedish-Canadian Culture and History; Press Publications and Correspondence; and Sofia Girls’ Tour. Contents include typescripts of interviews and radio broadcasts about Swedish-Canadian history in Canada (broadcasts were produced for the CBC), newspaper clippings about Swedes in Canada and abroad, correspondence with Swedish-Canadians and various groups supporting Swedish cultural activities in Canada (including Swedish-language film screenings in BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan), and promotional and administrative records related to the 1956-1957 Canadian tour of the Sofia Girls’ Rhythmic Gymnastics Team, which Lindfors helped to organize. The fonds also contains nearly 200 photographs of Swedes, Swedish-Canadians, and the Sofia Girls’ Team.

Included in the LWIU period are detailed financial and membership account books as well as meeting minutes and correspondence relating to the 1934 strike. The second accrual consists of records related to Arne Johnson’s activities as a logger and trade unionist. There are two series: Union activities series and Historical controversies series.

The third accrual consists of two files added to the Personal records series: one file contains a variety of personal documents, including Johnson’s birth certificate, marriage certificate, transportation records, and correspondence; one is a notebook consisting mostly of newspaper clippings.

The Nursing Records series includes a photograph album captioned in detail by Emery covering her year of service overseas from 1944 to 1945, as well as immigration documents, certificates, and correspondence related to her nursing career.

Fonds consists of 20 lab notebooks (1966-1970) containing notes from Caroline Astell’s Ph.D. studies. The notebooks include the results of her studies with Michael Smith in the area of oligonucleotides beginning about May 1968.
