With his letters, Woodcock also included four typescript poems and an essay on Simone Weil published in Atropos. Woodcock also sent Campbell a typescript copy of his unpublished play The Floor of the Night.

The fonds consists of 19 Giclée (pronounced zhee-KLAY) prints (65 x 60 cm) of British Columbians drawn primarily from his Order of Canada portraits.

Records from the FTA include a copy of the Canada-U.S. Free Trade Agreement, correspondence with Simon Reisman, Finance Minister Michael Wilson, Mulroney, and other Cabinet Ministers. FTA materials also include correspondence and newspaper clippings from the tenth anniversary of the FTA. The records also include copious handwritten notes from Carney's participation on the Priorities and Planning Committee of the Cabinet. The fonds also includes records from State Visits of the Prince and Princess of Wales and American Vice-President George Herbert Walker Bush to Expo 86, as well as State Visits by President and Mrs. Reagan of the United States and President and Mrs. Mitterrand of France. The fonds also contains records documenting Carney's career as a Senator, including a series dedicated to the Task Force on Barriers to Women in the Public Service. Also, the records contain a series of Carney's School of Community and Regional Planning teaching materials as well as limited amounts from both her private life and her career as an economic journalist.
The 2011 accrual (Boxes 47-60) consists of correspondence, newspaper clippings, personal notes, reports, photographs, tapes and videos created collected by Carney during her time as a Senator. There is also further material regarding the reception of her autobiography and material from the operations of Gemini North.

The fonds consists of textual documents and audiovisual materials that relate to the filming and production of “Champions for Change.” The textual materials include synopsis and scripts, tape logs, shot lists, transcripts and interview transcripts. A number of the tapes (including #3, #9, #10, #16, #17, #20 and #21) are not transcribed. The audiovisual materials are 26 videotapes, including master copies of the three-part series “Champions for Change,” the master dub tape, and additional footage of interviews with key individuals. The individuals interviewed include Chantal Benoit, Jeff Adams, Chantal Petitclerc, B. MacPherson, Kristine Bacharach, Travis Engen, Dan Gangier, Eric Gagnon, and Rebecca Borneman. The tapes also include stock footage and B-roll shots.

Fonds documents several of Eva-Marie Kröller’s academic projects: her biography of British Columbia author George Bowering, Bright Circles of Colours (Talonbooks, 1992); essays on Roy Kiyooka and Emily Carr; her book Canadian Travellers in Europe, 1851-1900 (UBC Press, 1987); materials relating to her book Writing the Empire: The McIlwraiths, 1853-1948 (2021); an article entitled “Une femme bien en vue”: Adrienne Clarkson and the Media (2014); and an anthology of travel literature that she and historian Pierre Savard were planning, but which was not completed before Savard’s death in 1998 in addition to other various research materials. Also included are documents related to a workshop organized by SATE (Swiss Association of Teachers in English), and correspondence with Canadian authors. The materials consist of textual records (correspondence, notes, drafts, and readers’ reports), published materials, and a 3.5” computer floppy disk containing a digital manuscript of Bright Circles of Colours.

The fonds consists of sketches, photocopies, and paintings of costume and set designs relating to plays that MacDonald has been the principal art director or set designer, as well as, correspondence and press coverage for The Overcoat.

The collection consists of 20 audio recordings one of which is a recording of the UBC 50th anniversary commemorative ceremonies on 1 October 1965, and the others being CBC interviews with prominent alumni and former faculty on 7-8 September 1965.

There is also a comprehensive set of oceanographic log sheets containing data collected between 1951 and 1978.

The Women's Research Centre fonds consists of eleven series. The records deal with various aspects of women's lives and focus on racial, class, and gendered issues such as pay equity, women in the labour force, sexual harassment, immigration and the gendered effects of cultural transition, isolation, women's health and the Tobacco Industry, wife battering, sexual assault, and the strengths and weaknesses of women's shelters, women and the law, political responses to women's situation, and the development of strategies for changing women's lives. In addition, the Women's Research Centre fonds contains administrative records of the organization. Multiple-media records were created and used by the Women's Research Centre in the course of their research such as textual records, canvass banners, publications, maps, newspapers and newspaper clippings. Records created and used by the Women's Research Centre include the Women's Research Centre and BC Women's Studies Association constitution and mission statement, contracts, grant applications, project proposals, various research guides, surveys, statistics, various outlines, budgets, address lists, handwritten and typed notes, correspondence, facsimiles, discussion papers, extensive interdisciplinary manuscripts and abstracts created by members of the BC Women's Studies Association, extensive questionnaires and interview transcripts, drafts, reports, agendas, memos, briefs, meeting minutes, bulletins, press releases, various financial materials such as bills, receipts, expense claim forms, cheque stubs, invoices, and income and expense sheets, workshop registration and evaluation forms, membership application forms, newspapers, pamphlets, brochures, newsletters, articles, books, log books, bibliographies, purchase orders, literature reviews, and maps.

Collection consists of documents and maps that supported the findings in McDowell's book, Uncharted Waters: The Explorations of Jose Narvaez (1768-1840), published in 2015 by Ronsdale Press, Vancouver, BC.

All items in this collection are photocopies. The dates of the originals fall between 1788 and 1830. When available, information about the locations of the originals is specified in the file-level description.

From McDowell: "One of the least appreciated, but potentially most important set of historical documents in [RBSC] are those related to the overlooked Spanish navigator Jose Maria Narvaez (1768-1840), the first European mariner to explore the central and northern parts of what we now call the Salish Sea in 1791 -- one year before the famous captains Dionisio Alcala-Galiano, Cayetano Valdes y Bazan, and George Vancouver investigated the same inland sea. Although Narvaez's remarkable achievements and contributions were largely ignored, overlooked, or minimized until 1998, a more accurate assessment is emerging, and it has been supported significantly by the documentary information in [RBSC]."

Collection consists of scrapbooks, newspaper and magazine clippings, pamphlets, reports, correspondence, drawings, booklets, and maps related to Alan F. Brook's interest in hydroelectric engineering projects in the Pacific Northwest of British Columbia and the United States. The scrapbooks compile newspaper and magazine clippings that follow the development of the Columbia River Treaty between Canada and the United States from the mid 1950s-1970s, including information on the resulting Mica, Duncan, Keenleyside (formerly High Arrow), and Libby Dams. The majority of the material in the scrapbooks were taken from articles in The Province (formerly the Vancouver Province) and the Trail Daily Times. The collection also includes ephemera related to the Columbia Basin Project in Washington State.

Fonds consists of minutes and agendas, correspondence, publications, reports, photographs, pamphlets, scrapbooks, newspaper clippings, artifacts, and other textual records related to Pro-CAN’s mission of: improving abortion access for women; defending their legal rights; protecting providers and clinics from harassment and violence; destigmatizing abortion; and educating the public about reproductive rights. The records include those necessary to fulfill its functions of managing and administrating the organization, advocating and lobbying, and ensuring safety and security, as well as those used as resources. Resources and subject files span the topics of abortion history in Canada and abroad, legal matters, grey literature, information about similar external organizations, and related topics in the news. Pro-CAN also kept extensive files on anti-choice groups and individuals along with their behaviors, photographs, and letters.

Fonds captures the life of Jack Pearcey in British Columbia in the 1920s when he was an engineering student at the University of British Columbia (class of 1927) and when he traveled the province as part of his work for the Geological Survey of Canada. Photographs depict Pearcey and his colleagues doing survey work in rural areas and feature such locations as Nakusp, Prosperity, Green Point, Wreck Bay, Victoria, Marmor Glacier, and Blair Glacier. Pearcey’s Geological Survey of Canada work in the Slocan region features Slocan, Slocan Lake, Kaslo, Kootenay Lake, Sandon, New Denver, and Carpenter Creek Valley. Photographs also depict Britannia Mine and miners, bunk houses, work camps, regional flora, UBC (including construction of the science building), camping/hiking, and more.

The fonds consists of records related to Kathryn Shoemaker's illustrative works, and includes final artwork and sketches, as well as draft texts, dummy copies, resource materials, published reviews and correspondence, including the author and publisher, relating to the production of the work.

The fonds consists of one volume of correspondence. The volume includes 31 autographed letters to and from various correspondents, including Dr. James Lind. Bound with the letters are prints of the writers and brief biographical statements. The letters cover various topics ranging from scientific and medical topics to current events of the time and personal inquiries.

The fonds consists of records related to Gaudin's medical career in obstetrics and gynaecology. Record types include Gaudin's certificate of membership to the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, and studies and commentary on obstetrical and gynaecological cases. The majority of these studies are bound together in a volume presented to the Royal College by Gaudin.

The Cassiar Gold Rush collection contains materials related to the Cassiar gold rush which occurred in the late 19th century, prompting an influx of transportation, industry, and resource extraction in the northwest region of British Columbia known today as Cassiar County.

The records in the collection contain information relating to working and living conditions, business transactions, weather reports, and transportation; particularly that of the steamship industry.

Record types include receipts, advertisements, correspondence, legal affidavits, post cards, and newsletters.

Items in the collection were gathered by Barbara Hodgson. Many of the items were reproduced in Hodgson’s non-fiction publications In the Arms of Morpheus: The Tragic History of Laudanum, Morphine and Patent Medicines (2001) and Opium: A Portrait of the Heavenly Demon (1999). Hodgson was particularly interested in representations of opium production, transportation, sale, and ingestion, as well as similar representations of laudanum and patent medications containing morphine. Geographical areas depicted include China, countries in South Asia, and countries in the Middle East. Many representations of opium ingestion in the collection are orientalist in nature; individuals who have South Asian, Chinese, or Middle Eastern heritage are depicted in a racist, exoticized manner by Western film or medicine companies in order to lend an aura of “glamour” to various products.

The collection spans 223 books searchable through the UBC Library Catalogue and the following archival files created by Hodgson: Trade Cards; Postcards and Stereo Cards; Movie Stills; Portraits of Writers and Performers; Pharmaceutical Documents, U.S. Federal Order Forms, Medication Advertisements, and Stamps; Print Copies of Engravings; and Canadian Customs Tariff Book, 1897. As is apparent from this list, archival documents were aggregated based on their form. Principle documentary forms in the collection include the following: trade cards created by Victorian-era patent medicine companies; postcards; stereo cards; film stills from a variety of films; copies of film reviews; photographs; postage stamps; advertisements; handwritten prescriptions; pharmacy stock lists; U.S. Treasury Department order forms; anti-narcotic postage stamps; a package of Stanback Headache Powder; print copies of engravings; and a Canadian customs tariff book from 1897.

The fonds consists of records related to Simons’ writing career, travels, and personal life. Records span a period from Simons’ early years in university to 2012 and were created predominantly in Vancouver, British Columbia. Some records were created during Simons’ travels in England, France, Japan, Hong Kong, India, and Burma. The fonds comprises the following three series: Literary Works; Professional and Personal Records; and Travel Records.

The Literary Works series features drafts of Simons’ literary works in various genres, particularly drama (stage, radio, and film) and fiction (for children and adults). Record types include publications, drafts (typed, handwritten, and hand-annotated), outlines, notes, research materials for projects, several recordings of Simons’ works, and large poster boards Simons used for plotting one of her fiction projects.

The Professional and Personal Records series contains records related to the administration and management of Simons’ literary career, particularly her attempts to submit work to various publishers and producers, mount productions of her dramatic works, and secure adequate financial resources to sustain her writerly practice. Administrative records are frequently mixed physically with Simons’ personal correspondence to family and friends. Record types include drafts of Simons’ curriculum vitae, grant applications, professional and personal correspondence, professional photographs, and contracts.

The Travel Records series aggregates records from Simons’ three major trips: Europe from 1959-1961; Japan, Hong Kong, and India from 1967-1968; and Hong Kong, Burma, India, and Japan in 1986. Simons attended many plays, conferences, and art shows while traveling and preserved programs as a source of inspiration for her creative work. Simons also maintained correspondence with friends and family during her travels. Record types include programs, personal and professional correspondence, personal photographs, and Simons’ notes on various activities.

The collection reflects the careers and interests of the Farris family, who were prominent members of the Vancouver elite. Their status as a family of lawyers and educated individuals often allowed them the opportunity to travel and attend noted events such as the Royal Ascot Racecourse, and encounter several distinguished individuals, such as Prime Ministers Louis St. Laurent and Pierre Trudeau, Lieutenant Governor Walter Owen, and Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. The collection consists chiefly of correspondence, photographs, matters of estate, family history, notebooks, manuscripts, legal memorabilia, and family memorabilia of John Wallace de Beque Farris, Evlyn Keirstad Farris, John Lauchlan Farris, and Dorothy Farris.

The Mavis Hall collection comprises of a variety of printed and photographic materials collected by Margery McCuaig, Hall’s mother, during a trip to Japan, sponsored by the Japanese Tourism Ministry and the Japanese Government Railways, from July-August, 1939.

The collection contains commercially-produced slides, postcards and souvenir photographs, as well as Board of Tourism publications, prints, and a few personal items and memorabilia of McCuaig, such as a passport, scrapbook, and autograph book. McCuaig also collected ephemera from the time she spent on the cruise ship, including daily ship menus, news bulletins, travel brochures, and entertainment programmes, that exhibit her experiences onboard.

The collection reflects the forestry operations and projects undertaken by Western Forest Products and their predecessors. The majority of the material dates to the 1980s, with some material dating to as early as the 1950s and as late as the early 2000s. Much of the contents relates to MacMillan Bloedel Limited, in particular their tree farm licenses (TFLs), silvicultural practices, and some corporate information.

Tree farm license records include: project reports, working and management plans, and maps. Silviculture records include: growth and yield reports, environmental reports, literature, and summaries of silvicultural projects. Corporate records include meeting agendas and minutes, publications, and microfiche.

There are three main types of material in the collection: textual records, maps, and microfiche. The initial acquisition also included aerial photographs which have subsequently been transferred to the UBC Geographic Information Centre.

The fonds consists of a bound report entitled "Preliminary Mining Report on the 'Mount of the Holy Cross' Group of Gold-arsenical pyrites mineral Claims : - Situated on Wardle Creek, near Hope in the Yale Mining Division of the Providence of British Columbia, Dominion of Canada," compiled by Ronald Campbell Campbell-Johnston, mining, geological and metallurgical engineer, in Vancouver, B.C., May 1923. The report includes an index of contents and a list of photographs.

The collection consists of 67 black and white photographs of various sizes taken by Ulli Steltzer in the 1960s and 1970s. Subjects include Northwest Coast Indigenous peoples and artists, Black, LatinX and Indigenous peoples in the USA and Guatemala, and a small number of portraits and still-life. Specifically, the collection contains seven original prints from her important book Indian Artists at Work, including the iconic cover image of Mabel Taylor of Port Alberni weaving a basket, a beautiful portrait of Dempsey Bob carving a human figure, and Haida basket maker Florence Davidson gathering spruce roots, among others. It also contains 14 original prints from her book Coast of Many Faces, including the cover image (Sam Webber and his daughter Laura from Kingcome Inlet), and photos from the Nass River, Alert Bay, Port Neville, Ahouset, Massett and other coastal places. There are eight 1967 - 1968 photographs of Black Americans in the Mississippi Delta, Georgia, and Alabama as well as images of LatinX Americans and Vietnam War widows, as well as photographs of the Maya in Guatemala.

The fonds consists of correspondence, design plans, computer output cards, and printed material generated for an exhibition entitled "The Vision Machine", planned, but never staged, for the Vancouver Museum ca. 1979. The material in the fonds suggests that the exhibit was to deal with technological changes in photography as well as early B.C. photographers.

The fonds consists of a photocopied diary recording personal experience, climatic and geographical conditions, and observations about nature written while Elias worked as a trapper on Banks Island, 1959-1966.

The fonds consists of documents relating to his career in logging, including membership cards in various union organizations; correspondence with Myrtle Bergren relating to her book, <em>Tough Timber</em>, on the history of the loggers of British Columbia; union correspondence, and minutes of some union meetings including a meeting of October 3, 1948 in which a motion was passed to disaffiliate the membership from the International Woodworkers of America (IWA) and form the Woodworkers Industrial Union of Canada.

The records in the first accrual reflect Johnson’s activities both as a leader in the The Lumber Worker’s Industrial Union (LWIU) during the first half of the 1930s and his later activities as part of the Lumber and
Sawmill Workers’ Union (LSWU) and IWA from 1937 to 1963. Included in the LWIU period are detailed financial and membership account books as well as meeting minutes and correspondence relating to the 1934 strike. This accrual contains the following series: Lumber Workers’ Industrial Union series, Lumber Workers’ Industrial Union financial records series, Lumber and Sawmill Workers’ Union (Local 1-7 1) series, Photograph series, Workers’ Unity League series, and Personal records series.

The second accrual consists of records related to Arne Johnson’s activities as a logger and trade unionist. There are two series: Union activities series and Historical controversies series.

The third accrual consists of two files added to the Personal records series: one file contains a variety of personal documents, including Johnson’s birth certificate, marriage certificate, transportation records, and correspondence; one is a notebook consisting mostly of newspaper clippings.

The fonds consists of incoming letters to Constable A. Forsythe regarding fishing licences and other matters as well as his report on the spawning grounds at Babine Lake and other locations.

The fonds documents the company's activities in the ship building and maintenance business from ca. 1960 until the closure of the business in 1984. The fonds is arranged in four series containing invitations to tender, specifications, and drawings from various marine architects and government agencies, as well as invoices, advertising and technical publications from various suppliers.

The fonds primarily consists of records from the Francis Millerd and Company Limited (Francis Millerd & Co. Ltd.) business. These records mostly relate to the company and its relationship with its fishermen. The two primary functions of Francis Millerd & Co. Ltd. were the processing of fish and the contracting of fishermen to supply these fish. The fish processed were mainly varieties of salmon, as well as herring, clams, bloaters, sardines, dog fish, kippers, and silvets. Processing mainly took the form of canning, but smoking, curing, and freezing was also used. Some fishermen merely sold their fish to the company while others used company gear or vessels, often on mortgage plans or promisary notes. Others worked for hourly wages. The company possessed at least one cannery, the Great Northern Cannery, which Millerd had purchased in 1923. Until the late 1930s, the company made its own cans from sheets of tin. There were one hundred employees at the time of its sale in 1968. A packer vessel named Great Northern 8 was associated with this cannery, most likely preceded by similarly named vessels.

Other records in this fonds include materials which reflect on Millerd's activities and interests within the Canadian fishing and canning industries.
