Sub-series contains annual general meeting minutes for the Consolidated Shingle Mills Association of British Columbia a division of the CRCSABC. Material consists of ledger books documenting the associations’ decisions, including the founding of three standing committees and reports from the standing committees and other groups with an interest in lumber and forestry in the region. The ledger includes a list of registered directors and members.

Sub-series consist of Directors meetings minutes from the Consolidated Red Cedar and Shingle Association of British Columbia. Material contains four ledger books of meeting minutes documenting the committee’s decisions, and includes division reports, the organizations functions and activities, and daily business.

Sub-series consists of meeting minutes that discuss films, photographs, and projects geared towards the promotion of plywood, a discussion on western softwood flooring, publications, and policy.

Sub-series contains records relating to the British Columbia Loggers Association’s Executive Council committee. Material consists of meeting minutes that outline the finances of the Executive Council include accounts payable, balance sheets, surplus, liabilities and assets.

Sub-series documents the annual activities of partner organizations supported by TRAS in South India. Project files contain correspondence, requests for assistance, reports, statements regarding finances, and photographs.

Sub-series documents all other projects funded by TRAS not classified as per the regional sub-series above. Project files consist of correspondence including requests for further assistance, reports on the individual projects and financial statements.

This subseries contains project files that the Trans Himalayan Aid Society (TRAS) organised and funded together with the Central Himalayan Rural Action Group (CHIRAG). Most of these projects are related to sustainable energy.

These records relate to Provincial NDP activities in support of the November 21, 1988 Federal Election. During this election, the Federal NDP party secured 43 seats, 19 of which were in British Columbia. Records in this subseries appear to have been created by the Provincial Secretary, Hans Brown, and were kept at the central office of the NDP.

Records in this subseries include party strategic documents such as the Spring Campaign and Fall Campaigns for membership, fundraising, and political support; committee minutes and communications such as the Revenue Sharing Task Force and the Revenue Generating Task Force; correspondence and public communications; surveys; notes and drafts; and other related materials.

Records in this series relate to the British Columbia NDP's activities in support of the 2000 federal election.

Held on November 27, 2000, the 37th general election was called early by Liberal Party Prime Minister Jean Chretien. The federal NDP, under the leadership of Alexa McDonough, succeeded in securing 13 seats in Parliament, a loss of 8 seats from the previous election in 1997. The BC NDP also did not fare well in the federal election, possibly due to the resignation of Premier Glen Clark in August of 1999 surrounding allegations that he had accepted favours in return for approving a casino application. The next federal election was not held until 2004.

Records in this series have been made by multiple creators. Files 412-01 to 412-04 were created by Ed Lavalle, Provincial Secretary. The creator of files 412-05 to 412-15 is uncertain, but appear to be the Director of Communications. Similarly, the creator of files 412-16 to 412-21 is uncertain, but appears to be Ron Stipp, Director of Organization.

Files include correspondence, memos, public communications, polls, candidate biographies, clippings, draft advertisements and promotional materials, agendas and minutes, and other related materials.

Subseries consists of records assembled by Rev. Andrew MacDonell, a Scottish minister who came to Canada after serving as chaplain with the Canadian Corps during World War I. These records relate to MacDonell's work, starting in 1922, to bring several hundred families from Scotland and Northern Ireland to settle in Alberta as well as his work with the Scottish Immigrant Aid Society. The records in this subseries predominantly pertain to the Clandonald settlement near Vermilion, Alberta, which MacDonell established in 1926. He remained actively interested in the Clandonald settlement well into the 1950s and the records in this subseries provide insight into life in the community and the development of the area.

Records in this subseries include MacDonell's diaries and notebooks from 1918 to 1948, maps and blueprints, pamphlets, local histories of Clandonald, scrapbooks, newspaper clippings, photographs, and correspondence. This correspondence includes correspondence with the Canadian Pacific Railway Company, correspondence with prospective settlers and applicants for settlement, maps of Clandonald and district, and correspondence pertaining to the Scottish Immigrant Aid Society.

Subseries consists of records related to early Canadian history, particularly as relates to Canada outside of British Columbia and the Pacific Northwest. This subseries includes records produced during early periods of Canada's history as well as records that were produced later but which pertain to early Canadian history.

These records include essays, speeches, booklets, and artwork.

The collection of periodicals, mainly of fantasy and science fiction includes a sampling of many serials.

Files in this subseries reflect the function and activities of the Multicultural Committee of the BC NDP, including its various subcommittees and liaisons.

According to a “Proposed Statement of Purpose” contained in file 460-01, the Multicultural Committee of the BC NDP was established by the Provincial Executive on November 3, 1990 as a means of connecting better with cultural and linguistic constituent communities, and to support the particular needs, struggles, and interests of those communities. As a whole, the committee aimed to make Party material available in a broader range of translations, introduce relevant resolutions at Convention, organize workshops and participate in community cultural events, and encourage both the Party and the provincial government to consider the broader needs of British Columbia’s diverse communities. In 1992, the Committee also began running a regular page in the Democrat, the party’s newspaper.

Like most BC NDP committees, the Multicultural Committee was headed by a Steering Committee which included two Co-Chairs, a Secretary, a Treasurer, past-Chairs, a member of the Democrat Committee, several members at large, and various liaisons and representatives from other parts of the BC NDP; this structure evolved over time as the committee established itself. In 1993, the Steering Committee consisted of "16 Steering Committee members plus four members at large for a total of 20 voting members. ...In addition, there will be non-voting members: two Minister's staff and the Multicultural Organizer" (from file 460-02). In 1991, the Committee engaged a Multicultural organizer, a paid staff position that was terminated later by the incoming government, and reinstated in a part-time capacity in 1993. Various subcommittees were formed within the Multicultural committee as well on either a standing or adhoc basis, such as the Membership, Education, Resolutions, Policy, and Working subcommittees. File 459-14 (under the March 10, 1992 tab) contains a "Strategy and Tactics" document that further outlines the intended outcomes and methods of the committee.

Sub-series consist of records generated in the course of Burch’s genealogical research and research on the town of Moyie for his autobiography. The sub-series is divided into 13 files: 9 relating to genealogy, one file of correspondence with another family member, one file of photographs, one file of newspaper clippings relating to his ancestors, and one file of research on the town of Moyie. Types of records include marriage and death certificates, descendent charts, correspondence, and other textual materials, as well as photographs, both historical childhood photographs and those taken during the course of Burch’s research, such as those of ancestral gravesites.

After his retirement from B.C. Forest Products, Burch remained active in the forestry sphere as a consultant. Documents in this sub-series reflect his continued interest in forestry related issues. The sub-series consists of two files, containing documents such as correspondence, ephemera, newsletters, and newspaper clippings. The division between the files is based on Burch’s own classification of the items as “G” or “H.”

These include minutes of meetings, articles and essays, conference programs and proceedings, copies of American and Canadian legislation, reports, news clippings and serials, bibliographies, monographs. and other material related to Japanese Americans, Japanese Canadians, their internment during WWII, and the redress movement. The sub-series contains audio recordings of broadcast interviews and interviews conducted by Miki and a video recorded program on redress-related topics. These records reflect Miki’s research activities and may also serve other researchers interested in these subjects and issues. Also consists of research materials (including a study conducted by Kundio Hidaka titled “Legal Status of Japanese in Canada”) gathered and annotated by Miki. Subseries also includes photographs from redress related events including the photographs used in the“Japanese Canadian Losses Study” conducted in 1985.

Includes an original and a transcript copy of a defence prepared by Belcher against charges of tyranny and severe treatment of his men during his service as Captain of the HMS Sulpher and related documents. Series also includes an original copy of a statement of defence written by Belcher when he was courtmartialled for abandoning ships under his command during the Franklin expedition in 1854.

The sub-series also contains transcripts of presentations made at the conference and drafts of the conference proceedings which Miki co-edited with Scott McFarlane and which were published in 1996. Finally, the sub-series contains research files on the histories and experiences of minority groups represented at the Injustice conference and in the conference proceedings. Records related to conference planning precede the manuscript drafts which are followed by the research files arranged alphabetically according to the name of the minority group.

The sub-series also contains audio recordings of community meetings and forum proceedings, Greater Vancouver JCCA Redress Committee meetings and elections and general JCCA meetings, and broadcast interviews relating the activities of the JCCA. Miki sat on the Greater Vancouver JCCA Board of Directors and served as Chair of the Greater Vancouver JCCA Redress Committee between 1984 and 1988. The sub-series documents Miki’s activities in both these capacities in particular, and the activities and campaigns of the organization in general.
