File contains pamphlets and newspaper clippings related to union and labour issues in British Columbia in the 1950s which may have been collected by Jack Ross. Also contains one full issue of the BC District Union News (January 1955) and one full issue of the Labour Statesman (December 17, 1954).

File contains photocopies of judgements printed in the Western Weekly Reports and Canadian Law Reports, with some annotations by Ian McDonald. Cases within the file: Morrison v. Ingles et al & Ingles v. Woodside et al (Supreme Court, 1920); British Columbia Telephone Company v. Morrison, The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union No. 213, and Local Union No. 310 (Supreme Court, 1921); Gee v. Correspondence re: use of files – IBEW, 213, BC Hydro

File contains correspondence written by and to Ian McDonald regarding the use of materials for his Master's thesis, and documenting his struggles various documents. Correspondence includes legal advice provided to McDonald and interlibrary loan slips from SFU. Also contains a program from the Pacific Northwest Labor History Conference (University of British Columbia, 1984) and a price list for word processing services in 1984.

Charges & Defence - Don Wilson & the IBEW - Gee affair, 1955

File contains correspondence between Don Wilson and other members of the IBEW concerning charges and the later trial against Wilson by the IBEW for "publishing or circulating among the membership, or L[ocal].U[nion].'s false reports or misrepresentations." Also contains bulletins written by Wilson, materials related to the suspension of George Gee and a notice of action taken by the wives of Local 213 members.

Kuzych vs. White (1947)

File contains a photocopied article from the Western Weekly Review concerning Kuzych v. White et al. and a photocopied section from an unidentified book on Martin v. Law Society of British Columbia.

Local 213 - Contemporary Clippings

File contains later newspapers clippings related to IBEW Local 213 collected by Ian McDonald after the submission of his Master's thesis. Also contains George Gee's obituary and memorial service program.

File contains photocopied newspaper clippings and magazine articles related to Hume & Rumble Limited, electrical contractors, including an obituary for Fred Rumble. Also contains a photocopied brochure for Hume & Rumble (undated) and a memorandum regarding the Bridge River transmission line.

Seniority Lists & Retirement

File contains lineman and groundman's seniority lists for Peterson Electric, B.C. Electric and possible others (not all lists are identified).

Patricia Roy articles

File contains three photocopied articles written by University of Victoria History professor Patricia Roy: "Direct Management from Abroad: The Formative Years of the British Columbia Electric Railway," "The Illumination of Victoria: Late Nineteenth-Century Technology and Municipal Enterprise" and "The British Columbia Electric Railway and Its Street Railway Employees: Paternalism in Labour Relations." Also contains a page of handwritten notes from Ian McDonald.

[Labour During the Cold War - James L. Turk paper]

File contains a copy of a paper presented by James L. Turk of the University of Toronto at the Annual Meeting of the Canadian Oral History Association in June 1980. The full title of the paper is "Labour During the Cold War: Oral History in the Study of the Survival of the United Electrical Workers in Canada."

File contains papers related to Ian McDonald's research on the Lenkurt strike, which he eventually omitted from the scope of his Master's thesis but took up later in "Spontaneity Went Out with Spartacus," including footnotes, "The Lenkurt Dispute" by Patricia Atherton, and Lenkurt Strike 1966 by Joyce Cameron, Virginia Reimer and Cathy Walker.
