Trahey v. Colquhoun

File consists of five documents: summons; writ of summons; affidavit of service; affidavit of Colquhoun; and judgment by default. Plaintiff claims $101.90 principal due to him as payee on a promissory note and $15 for costs.

Gentile v. Sproat

File consists of four documents: record; statement of defense; order; and particulars of demand. The Plaintiff claims $500 for a breech of contract by the Defendant. Plaintiff claims that he was employed by the Defendant to take "photographic views of divers, places, buildings and persons at Alberni." The Defendant would not pay the agreed price, nor would he pay for the goods sold and delivered, work done and materials provided by the Plaintiff at the Defendant's request.

File consists of one document: Record regarding a land lease dispute whereby the Defendant failed to renew the lease as promised and refused to allow the rent of the said premises to be fixed. Certain fixtures, erections, and buildings of the Plaintiff on the leased
premises were lost to him and the Plaintiff claims $5,000 for loss.

Carey v. Everett, McTiernan, and Thomas

File consists of one document: Bill of Complaint wherein it is detailed that Defendants are withholding money owed to the Plaintiff, wife of the deceased Mr. J. Carroll, from his estate. She was not allowed to select and approve the securities for investments of monies belonging to the trust estate. She wishes that the Defendants be removed from their offices of Trustees and that new ones be appointed to manage the estate.

Mayer et al. v. Brunn

File consists of seven documents: Judgment by Default of Plea; Judgment; Affidavit of Jackson; Affidavit of G. Hemingway; Writ; Declaration; and Bill of Costs. Plaintiffs are suing for money owed to them by the Defendant for goods sold and delivered and for work done and materials provided in the amount of $1,000.

Alston v. Bagnall

File consists of six documents: Agreement for Arbitration; Affidavit of Execution of Agreement to Arbitrate; Affidavit of Service;
Rule; Declaration; and Insurance that the submission herein be made a Rule of the Court. Alston and others guaranteed to the Bank of British North America an open credit for twelve months not to exceed the sum of $1,500 in favor of J. Bagnall. To secure payment of such guarantee, J. Bagnall executed a Bill of Sale of certain pianos and the amount of such sale was placed to the credit of J. Bagnall. Alston claims to have paid the Bank $293 on behalf of the guarantee and seeks action to recover the rest against J. Bagnall.

Jones to Curio

File consists of one document: Affidavit of Execution wherein, in consideration of the sum of $2,130, V . Jones has bargained, sold, and conveyed to N. Curio a building owned by him in Barkerville.

Pemberthey to Pelletier

File consists of two documents: Bill of Sale of the "Richfield Hotel" and Affidavit of Attesting Witness wherein, in consideration of the sum of $3,000, J. Pemberley bargains, sells and transfers Lot 56 in Richfield along with the hotel erected thereon.

E. Ord to J. Sanderson

File consists of two documents: bill of sale and affidavit of attesting witness wherein, in consideration of the sum of $700, E. Ord grants and assigns a cabin in Barkerville along with all of the household furnishings, chattels, and effects.

Richardson v. Gerow

File consists of six documents: request to withdraw judgement; certificate of R. Woods; judgement by default; writ of summons; affidavit of T. Davie. Case regards the failure on behalf of Defendant Gerow to appear in court, judgement made in favor of the Plaintiff to recover damages.

In the Matter of Laura Edmonds, Infant

File consists of five documents: affidavit of S. Tooley; affidavit of M. Edmonds; (2) court orders; notice to appear. Case regards that M. Edmonds acknowledges that her daughter Laura has been in the case of S. Tooley, but strongly objects to him taking her to San Francisco and demands that the child be returned to her. Buckley v. The Vancouver Coal Mining and Land Company Ltd. and Mark Bate, General Agent and Manager

File consists of four documents: summons; motion; (2) bill of complaint. Case involving a land dispute, Plaintiff wishing to pay the balance on his land purchase and to then be entitled to the land as owner so the Defendants will be unable to prosecute or commense action of legal proceedings against the Plaintiff for recovery of the land used for coal mining.

Marvin v. Stuart

File consists of fourteen documents: affidavit of A.S. Farwell; (7) writ of summons; affidavit of E. Bodwell; affidavit of service; affidavit of J. Walls; statement of claim; appearance; affidavit of H. Abbott. Case regards the Defendants to be ordered to convey the described properties to the Plaintiff (a trader) and that the Defendants to be ordered to release to the Plaintiff all their titles and interest in the said properties.

Exparte William Smithurst, deceased

File consists of one document: affidavit of R. Finlayson. Case regarding Mr. Smithurst executing a mortgage to R. Finlayson to secure payment. The property was sold and there was an excess of $1,118.00 over and above the amount due to him and he needs to know who is entitled to receive the surplus money.
