APEC Alert and Jonathan Oppenheim Documents subseries

The subseries consists of materials created and disseminated by APEC Alert before the APEC summit and in its aftermath and materials collected and created by Jonathan Oppenheim. It consists of posters, pamphlets, and ephemera produced by APEC Alert, information about APEC and the leaders of the APEC countries; News Releases about the PCC and a letter written to UBC faculty. In addition, it includes documents composed by Oppenheim and other APEC Alert members in their attempts to subpoena then Prime Minister Jean Chretien to appear at the RCMP PCC.

Anti-Choice Mail

Subseries consists mainly of correspondence received by Pro-CAN from anti-choice groups and individuals, along with a few articles and newspaper clippings reporting on terrorism and hit lists. Most letters and postcards could be considered "hate mail" and many are religious in nature. Some files include correspondence from other pro-choice supporters informing Pro-CAN of possible mail threats. Artifact is a lapel pin featuring an "international pro-life symbol" that was mailed to Pro-CAN.

Anti-Choice Individuals

Subseries consists of newspaper clippings, articles, notes, photographs, and correspondence related to anti-choice individuals Pro-CAN was monitoring. Correspondence occurs between Pro-CAN and other pro-choice supporters that were sharing information on possible threats and actions from the included anti-choice individuals as well as occasionally between Pro-Can and the actual individual. Photographs contain images of the named anti-choice protestors, usually picketing outside of abortion clinics. Some of the images contain graphic signage. Those photos included in the "Fanatic File" include handwritten notes on the back provided by the members of Pro-CAN.

Subseries consists of newspaper clippings, notes, photographs, and correspondence related to anti-choice groups Pro-CAN was monitoring. Correspondence is mostly between Pro-CAN and other pro-choice supporters that were sharing information on possible threats and actions from the included anti-choice groups. Photographs contain images of anti-choice cars and license plate numbers taken outside of group meetings.

Anti-Choice Behaviors

Subseries consists of articles, newspaper clippings, correspondence, brochures, photographs, and artifacts related to common anti-choice behaviors. Articles and newspaper clippings follow the various tactics reported on by third parties and correspondence is mainly between Pro-CAN and other pro-choice supporters sharing information with one another. Many of the files focus on anti-choice violence in Canada and abroad, primarily on the rash of attacks committed against abortion doctors in the 1990s. Artifacts include an anti-choice package featuring a plastic fetus and card detailing fetal development as well as an "international pro-life symbol" lapel pin.

Annual General Meetings of Consolidated Shingles Mills of B.C.

Sub-series contains annual general meeting minutes for the Consolidated Shingle Mills Association of British Columbia a division of the CRCSABC. Material consists of ledger books documenting the associations’ decisions, including the founding of three standing committees and reports from the standing committees and other groups with an interest in lumber and forestry in the region. The ledger includes a list of registered directors and members.

Sub-series contains General meeting minutes from the Consolidated Red Cedar and Shingle Association of British Columbia. Material consists of ledger books documenting the associations’ decisions, including the founding of three standing committees and reports from the standing committees and other groups with an interest in lumber and forestry in the region.

Sub-series contains records relating to the British Columbia Lumber Manufacturers Association’s Annual General Meetings. Material consists of meeting minutes which include the history of the association, list of committees including the lumber, shingle, Sash and Door branches; legislation, railway rates, labour, logs and press committee, minutes of shareholders meeting for the organization, elections of offices and Board of Directors, amendments to acts such as the Bush Fires Act, discussion of arbitration for disputes in the industry, reports on new grading rule, shareholder certificate books which provides the number of shares owned by an individual, and information about the individual’s profession, location and company as shareholder.
Series also includes pictures of prominent members of lumber associations including J.A. Humbird, Gordon Gibson, A.D. Anderson, L.L.G. Bentley, L.R. Andrews, Tom Wilkinson, J.M. Edwards, W.J. van Dusen, Tom Burgess, H.V. Simpsons and Bill McMahon.

Annual General Meeting.

Sub-series contains the Council of Forest Industries’ Annual General Meeting minutes. Material consists of minutes that provided specific details about the meetings’ proceedings, a list of attendees, the agenda of the meeting, and transcriptions of speeches from the AGM luncheons, and reports from different committees.

Annapurna Conservation Area Project

This subseries contains project files that the Trans Himalayan Aid Society (TRAS) organised and funded together with the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP). Most projects are related to environmental, health and community development.

Americas subseries

Photographic prints, slides, maps, and documentation depicting objects and sites related to ancient Andean societies. Includes some materials regarding North America, mainly focused on cultures of the Northwest Coast.

A.M. Klein subseries

Subseries consists of items related to A.M. Klein and Steinberg’s correspondence, research and publications about him. Materials include correspondence, notes, annotated photocopies of Klein’s works, drafts, and manuscripts, including materials on microfilm.

Alfie Huston papers

The subseries contains materials collected by Alfie Huston, who served as the President of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 213 from 1985-1988. Materials include correspondence, newspaper clippings, convention reports, minutes, affidavits, court orders, settlement agreements, campaign materials, business office reports, newsletters, financial reports, discussion papers, safety bulletins, organizing committee resolutions, telegrams and membership lists.

Agreement negotations

Negotiation files include past and proposed agreements, proposals put forward by TLR and by Teamsters, proposals agreed to and those dropped, interpretations agreed to, notes, papers, minutes of meetings and some correspondence.

Agendas

Subseries consists of agendas, diaries, and planners that Manson used. These agendas date from the later part of Manson's life and many were only partially filled.

After 1990 - published short stories and essays

The subseries consists of material related to the writing and publication of short stories by Blanche Howard from 1987 to 2010. Material includes primarily typed drafts of stories, many edited or otherwise annotated by Howard and others, as well as correspondence regarding the stories, newspaper clippings and articles used for research, printing proofs, handwritten notes regarding characters, letters of agreement, and other related records. Correspondence consists primarily of email and traditional correspondence with editors, publishers, and literary agents, including rejection and acceptance letters, correspondence regarding royalties, reprint permissions, and awards, and correspondence containing feedback on the stories.

African Canadians

Sub-series consists of proposals and outlines, research, character profiles and biographies, editorial correspondences, chapter drafts, and the final proof, all pertaining to the book, which highlights the achievements of African Canadians in each sector of Canada’s National community.

Advisory Committee

The History of Nursing Advisory Committee was formed in November 1988 to encourage an interest in and retention of materials relevant to the history of the RNABC.

Subseries consists of agenda, minutes, correspondence and other materials relevant to the mandate of the committee.

Advisory Commission on Indian and Inuit Health Consultation subject files

Series consists of subject files, arranged alphabetically, related to the affairs of the Advisory Commission on Indian and Inuit Health Consultation established in 1979 by the federal government of Canada, as well as material assembled for the commissioner’s reference, including correpsondence, drafts of the Commission’s report made in 1980, press clippings, other pertinent reports and policy position papers.

Across currents: canada—Japan minority forum

Sub-series contains correspondence, minutes of meetings, notes, and other records reflecting Mild’s role on the organizing committee for the conference Culture in struggle: Canada—Japan minority forum. The conference was held in Vancouver in 1995. The sub-series contains photographs of individuals who participated in the conference as speakers, attendees, and performers and of ceremonies and performances in progress as well as audio recordings of the conference proceedings. Finally, the sub-series contains drafts of the manuscript of the conference proceedings which Mild co-edited with Rita Wong. The proceedings were published as Across Currents: Canada—Japan minority forum in 2001. Files related to conference organizing precede the manuscript drafts.

Sub-series contains correspondence, minutes of meetings, notes, and other records related to Miki’s role in organizing the Injustice conference held in Vancouver in 1992. The sub-series also contains transcripts of presentations made at the conference and drafts of the conference proceedings which Miki co-edited with Scott McFarlane and which were published in 1996. Finally, the sub-series contains research files on the histories and experiences of minority groups represented at the Injustice conference and in the conference proceedings. Records related to conference planning precede the manuscript drafts which are followed by the research files arranged alphabetically according to the name of the minority group.

Sub-series consists of financial accounts and statements of the Canadian Western Lumber Company, Limited and its subsidiary companies. Includes accounts, monthly statements, interim monthly statements, annual balance sheets, and annual statements and reports.

Subseries consists of correspondence, applications, curriculum vitae, notes and clippings on Messenger's teaching career with the UBC English Department, including tributes given at his memorial service.

Abortion

Sub-series reflects Mary Bishop’s interest in and writing about the topic of abortion, both historical and contemporary. The sub-series mostly comprises Bishop’s accumulation of newspaper articles reflecting perspectives on abortion access covered in news media from the 1960s to the 1980s. It also reflects Bishop’s research and published writing on the subject of abortion; perspectives within the Roman Catholic Church for and against abortion; abortion statistics in Canada; and medical information on abortion.

Records include newspaper clippings and magazine articles; reports on the subject of abortion; communication on abortion by pro-life movements (e.g., pamphlets, newsletters, articles); draft articles authored by Bishop on abortion; as well as some briefings, memorandums, press releases, and correspondence between Canada members of parliament.

A record of writing: an annotated and illustrated bibliography of George Bowering and George Bowering selected: poems 1961-1992

Sub-series contains photocopies of material gathered by Miki from the Public Archives of Canada and other sources in the course of compiling A record of writing. The sub-series contains audio tapes of conversations between Miki and Bowering regarding books Bowering published recorded between 1985 and 1989 as well as transcripts of some of those discussions. The sub-series also contains copies of poems by George Bowering and drafts of the manuscript of George Bowering selected. A Condensed History of Performance Art

A Condensed History of Performance Art was a program put on by Anna Banana in the early 1990s as an introduction to performance art. It was performed for the Aspects of Performance Art series by the Canadian Centre of the Arts at Owen Sound in 1992. Series consists of textual records in the form of scripts and draft scripts, press clippings, research notes, as well as Anna’s initial correspondence regarding performance logistics and programs for the Aspects of Performance Art performance series.
