Keenan v. Scott, operating as Daniel Scott and Co.

File consists of seven documents: affidavit to hold to bail; affidavit of R. Bishop; order to hold to bail; affidavit of J. Fall; affidavit of J.A. McCrea; affidavit of H. Nathan; and affidavit of G.I. Stewart. The Defendant is indebted to the Plaintiff for $131.25. Daniel Scott and Co., an auction house, held a sale of the effects of W. Culverwell, a bankrupt, and Mr. Scott sold certain articles to Mr. Keenan that he represented as silver. Mr. Keenan had the said articles tested and found that they were not silver as he was led to believe and he is suing to have his money returned.

Soloman v. Sproat; Sproat v. Soloman

File consists of seven documents: Defendant's Bill of Costs; Affidavit of W .S. Green; Records; Jury List; Affidavit of Increase; Bill of Costs; and Incipitor for Judgment. The Defendant detained from the Plaintiff his goods: 2 hogs heads; Jamaican Rum; 200 blankets; 36 pairs of trousers, etc. Plaintiff claim a return of the said goods or their value of $10,000 for their detention.

Copland; Summons; and Bill of Costs. Plaintiff claims $232 owed to him as payee on a promissory note.

Raymur v. Burrell

Murray v. Cleal

File consists of four documents: Affidavit of P. Byron; Bill of Costs; Affidavit o fR. Bishop and D. Cleal; and Affidavit of R.H. Wilson. Case regards P. Byron's statement that he was intending to leave Victoria, which he was then apprehended for, was not true. Cleal claims that there were malicious motives involved and he had no intention whatsoever of leaving the colony.

Hawley v. Baronovich

File consists of two documents: rule for a new trial; and order for a new trial. Verdict is to be set aside and a new trial had upon the grounds that the verdict was "perverse" and contrary to evidence.

Coxan v. Elmore

A. Sewell and Others v. The British Columbia Towing and Transportation Company Ltd. and the Moodyville Saw Mill Company Ltd.

File consists of five documents: writ of summons; statement of defense (one for each company); statement of claim; notice of motion. Case regards the Plaintiff claims of $80,000 for costs and for debt. The Plaintiff hired the Defendants to tow his ship, the "Thrasher", from the Port of Nanaimo to the Royal Roads and Cape Hattery. The Defendant did not safely tow or follow a safe and prudent course, and Plaintiff is suing for damages resulting from negligence and unskillfullness.

Wilcox v. Pemberton et al

File consists of four document: (2) Costs; Affidavit of J. Wilcox; Order. Plaintiff had erected and maintained a Hotel on Wharf Street in Victoria which did quite well, being in a location beside the harbour and near the bridge. However, the Defendants then constructed a bar across the bridge which "entirely intercepts and obstructs the transit and traffic of vehicle," they no longer travel in front of the Plaintiffs hotel and his business as Innkeeper has thereby been greatly injured as a result.

Grelley v. Craft et al

Plaintiff claims $730 owed to him by the Defendant for the use and occupation of the Colonial Hotel.
