[Ten Annual Cycling Trips, 1938-1947]
Photo album documenting sisters Clara and Kitty Wilson’s ten annual cycling trips taken throughout British Columbia in July and/or August of 1938 through 1947. The first seven trips were on Vancouver Island, the eighth in the Okanagan, and the ninth and tenth in the Cariboo region. The photos are thoroughly captioned and still in good shape. Also included are the letters and postcards they sent home during the trips (half of each card written by each sister), as well as newspaper clippings, business cards, a menu from BC Coast Steamships, a telegram, and a negative. There are also 25 hand-drawn cartoons highlighting some of their adventures. They nicknamed their bikes Rastus and Ginger, and also use a variety of pet names when signing their letters and referring to family members. The album is in decent shape though the pages are flaking at the edges. See also UL_1596 for a family photo album kept by the sisters.
