Evans v. Mendoza

File consists of five documents: order to hold to bail; affiavit of J. Coplund; bail price; appearance; affidavit of G. Evans; and affidavit of C. Gabel. Plaintiff claims that the Defendant is indebted to him for 140 pounds sterling as the holder of a certain Bill of Exchange. The Defendant is about to leave the colony for California and the Plaintiff asks that he be apprehended.

Plaintiffs are suing for 1,000 pounds from the Defendants on the amount of damage sustained by the Plaintiffs by reason of the Defendants unlawfully, with force and arms, breaking into and entering the home of the Plaintiffs.

Farrell v. McLaughlin

Frontine v. Tuile

File consists of one document: Affidavit of M.J. Frontine and J.G. Frontine. Plaintiff had given the Defendant $1,400 to purchase (on her behalf) Milch cattle and to open a dairy form for their joint benefit in San Francisco. He moved the business to Victoria and was very profitable. However, the Defendant, without the Plaintiffs counsel, mortgaged their Victoria property and expended the money without consent.

  • Norris is summoned to appear in court to answer the Plaintiff for the total amount of £12.12.4. The amount is due for a hoop and some carpet sold to the Defendant by the Plaintiff.

Gastineau v. Hubbs and Wren

File consists of two documents: affidavit of J. Gastineau; and order to hold to bail. Case regards the Defendant being indebted to the Plaintiff for $300 for work done by him as a surveyor. Plaintiff is concerned that Hubbs is about to leave Victoria for the San Juan Islands and asks that he be apprehended.
