Travel arrangements and a boarding pass
Contains an itinerary of a trip by Coupland to the UK (London, Cambridge, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Manchester), Amsterdam, Brussels, and Rotterdam, from Thursday April 16 to Friday, May 1. Also included are publisher contacts, and a stub from a boarding pass, dated April 24th (year uncertain; likely 1998) from Edinburgh to Manchester.
Includes an author trading card for Douglas Coupland (#228) from The Booksmith in San Francisco. The back of the card advertises a reading by Coupland taking place at 7pm on Friday March 13th.
"this is really random" t-shirt
File includes one white t-shirt, with the text "this is really random" in sans-serif black lettering. Associated with Coupland's 1995 novel Microserfs.
Two clippings related to the libel suit following Evelyn Lau's publication of "Me and W.P."
Contains two clippings related to the libel suit started by author W.P. Kinsella after the 1997 publication of an article entitled "Me and W.P" by Evelyn Lau, a former lover and fellow writer. Coupland, who guest-edited the issue of Vancouver Magazine in which the article appears, was also named as a defendant in the suit.
Includes page A11 from the Globe and Mail Arts section (Wednesday, March 4, 1998), and a copy of BC Frank Magazine (Issue 268, March 25, 1998) in which W.P. Kinsella and Evelyn Lau appear on the cover.
Contains a collage on cardboard, sealed with resin. Certain aesthetic similarities may suggest this as a precursor to the "Penguins" created by Coupland in 2007 - see for example, "Stardust" (2007 - 28x35cm, paper, canvas, resin, and wood).
