The Chung Collection contains a wealth of unique materials related to the Canadian Pacific Railway Company and details its extensive operations ranging from the construction of the transcontinental railway to the development of new divisions to the experiences of travellers on C.P.R. ships, trains, and planes. The records in this series include photographs, historical documents, books, maps, pamphlets, and artefacts, and include a number of very rare items such as Alfred Waddington's "Overland Route through British North America" (1868).

This series has been arranged into eight subseries: the Canadian Pacific Railway, C.P.R. Steamships, Travel and Tourism with the C.P.R., the British Columbia Coast Steamship Service, Artwork and images of the C.P.R., C.P.R. artefacts, Working for the C.P.R., and the Esquimalt and Nanaimo Railway Company.

Early British Columbia and Canadian History

Series consists of records that trace the history of the province of British Columbia from the early voyages of discovery made by European explorers through the recent past. The historical documents, photographs, books, maps, pamphlets, and other records in this series illustrate British Columbia's political, social, and cultural history. The scope of these documents includes everything from 18th-century exploration manuscripts to archival records related to the explosion of the S.S. Greenhill Park in the Port of Vancouver in 1945 to tourism brochures from the 1950s and 60s.

This series has been arranged into two subseries: Early British Columbia History, which includes the Pacific Northwest, parts of the western United States, and Canada’s northern Territories, and Early Canadian History.

Immigration and Settlement

Series consists of records that provide insight into the history of immigration and settlement in Canada. The Chung collection is renowned for its extensive and unique collections on immigration and settlement, and the photographs, historical documents, and artefacts in this series illustrate the struggles and eventual successes of Chinese immigrants and their descendants in fields such as business, politics, and the arts. The predominant focus of this series is Chinese immigration and settlement, from the discovery of gold in British Columbia through the construction of the transcontinental railway, exclusionary immigration policies, and the development and growth of Chinese communities in Canada. In addition to Chinese and Asian immigration and settlement, this series also contains material related to Scottish immigration in Canada.

This series has been arranged into four subseries: Chinese immigration and settlement to Canada, the Yip Family and Yip Sang Company, the Chinese Freemasons (Cheekungtong), and Clandonald and Scottish immigration to Canada.
