The fonds consists of documentation regarding specific courses, accreditation, correspondence, surveys, interdepartmental memoranda, sample student work, and brochures. Most of the documentation originates from the office of Engineering Physics under the directorship of Prof. Edward Auld. Dr. Jon Nakame accumulated the CEAB Accreditation materials. In general, these documents reflect the Director of Engineering Physics' role and interests, and specifically Prof. Edward Auld. They underscore Engineering Physics' relationship to the Department of Physics and Astronomy and the Faculty of Applied Science.
The first series consists of files that were collected and organized chronologically by Engineering Physics. Subsequent series include documentation regarding specific courses within Engineering Physics and documentation relating to the accreditation of Engineering Physics by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board during the 1990s and 2000s. There are 350 prints and 260 negatives included in the Photographs series, most of which were taken in the 1990s.

The collection consists of materials acquired by Special Collections and the University Archives and maintained for purposes of historical research. It includes reports, correspondence, committee minutes, course materials, architectural and other drawings, newspaper and magazine clippings, press releases, posters, brochures, and other published materials. The materials are arranged alphabetically by subject or name (e.g. organisations, University departments, events, buildings/places, and individuals).

The fonds consists of the following series: Dean's correspondence (1968-1981); committee records (1966-1981); staff meetings (1955-1981); course and student records (1970-1981); printed lectures (1950-1982); Federal Government (1976-1982); University Research Forest (1937-1981); Royal Commission on Forest Resources in B.C. (1975/76); Printed Material (1956-1982); Departmental Reviews (1991-1995); Alumni Matters (1971, 1988-1992); Safety Reports and Inspections (1990-1993); Other Institutions (1985-1993); Subject Files (1984-1993); and Forest Economics and Policy Analysis Unit [FEPA] (1988-1991).

Fonds consists of a variety of documents and memorabilia acquired by J. Allan Jones during his time as a UBC student, and includes exam papers, dance cards, announcements for 1928 graduating class events, photographs, and his wife's graduation and teacher training certificates.
