Chapman Awards series

Series consists of records documenting the Chapman Awards, which recognize outstanding student volunteer involvement and leadership. Records include correspondence, reports, and student applications. Files are arranged in chronological order.

Photographs series

Series contains Morris Panych receiving the Governor General's Literary Award for Drama, in honour of his work Girl in the Goldfish Bowl (2004), promotional photographs from Billy Bishop Goes to War (1986), undated promotional pictures, and personal negatives. Some are dated 1986, although the majority are not dated.

Fonds consists of various revised constitutions, minutes, annual reports of the Club, its committees and interest groups, financial records (including bound ledgers), correspondence, membership lists, newsletters, programmes (including photographs used in their production), a videotape of the Club's 75th-anniversary banquet, and scrapbooks. The increase in Club membership parallels the growth and development of the University. The records reflect many of the changes which have taken place over the years. They provide an insight into the concerns and activities of educated women through two world wars and the depression and record some of their contributions to university life.

The series consists of correspondence, manuscripts, drafts, notes, lists, contributor forms and printed material related to reference books such as guides and bibliographies authored by New. Works represented include Malcolm Lowry: A Reference Guide (1978), select essays in the Dictionary of Literary Biography (1986-2002), Encyclopedia of Literature in Canada (2002), and Janet Frame: An Enumerative Bibliography to 1990.

Auto/biographical Writing series

The series consists of manuscripts, correspondence, organization notes, and records related to works that contain fragments of auto/biographical writing authored by New. Works represented in this series include “Glimpses: Shadow, Pool” in Celebrating the Life and Work of Janet Frame (1994) and “Writing Here” in BC Studies (2005).

Series consists of records about films created, proposed, and/or directed by Kendall. Scripts, revisions, notes, correspondence, proposals, applications, research material, reports, production boards and schedules, audiotapes, video cassettes, film reels, interpositive film transfers, and textless backgrounds. Films include Boots (n.d.), Ice (1973), Con Game (1976), Tala (1976), Bearhunt (1978), Cadillac Girls (1993), Love and Death on Long Island (1996), Kayla (1999), Mr. Rice's Secret (Exhuming Mr. Rice) (2000), and incomplete projects Streetkids (ca. 1983), Diamond Knight (1988), Hockey Bat Harris (1989), FBI: Negotiator (2005), and The Great Goose Caper (2006).

Miscellaneous series

This series consists of two reports from committees within the Department of Physics, information on two other committees not within UBC but that involved Prof. Ed Auld, copies of Physics and Astronomy News, and other miscellaneous items.

The fonds consists records relating to Dr. Joan Ford’s medical career and personal life, with records including handwritten notes, letters and correspondence, newspapers, photographs, official degrees and awards, administrative reports, and a coin. Files often contain multiple record types within them. Dr. Ford dedicated her medical career to helping those in need, including traveling to Nepal, Dominica, and Bangladesh all while managing her own medical practice in Burnaby. She has served in various capacities on numerous boards and professional organizations including the Federation of Medical Women of Canada, Save the Children, the Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation, and the Trans-Himalayan Aid Society. She has received numerous awards and recognitions in her lifetime, but for her dedication to the global health community, she was appointed as an officer in the Order of Canada. Her personal interests included her family, Canadian history, and nature.
