Subfonds includes records related to McIlraith’s personal life and career. Many document her experiences as a nursing sister in World War II; much of her later life as a nurse and later Director of Shaughnessy Hospital was also dedicated to work with veterans. A number of articles discuss her activities and contributions, especially during WW II. Photographs, mostly obtained from official sources, provide a visual record of life as a hospital nurse aboard the Lady Nelson.

Subsubseries consists of two ledgers relating to the education of nurses. One is identified as belonging to the Kootenay Lake General Hospital Training School. The other is not identified. They were probably kept by supervising nurses.
Subfonds consists of a letter written by Muriel Slevin to her mother on hospital stationary, a photograph portrait and correspondence regarding the donation of materials.

Series consists of 3 m of textual records and additional graphic and audiovisual materials. The textual records include a comprehensive collection of UBC student cards from 1921 to 1994, many of which include detailed information about individual nurses. Records from the Kootenay Lake Hospital, the Kelowna General Hospital and Prince Rupert General Hospital date back to the early years of this past century. Pamphlets dating from 1887 documents aspects of nursing history. Theses by Margaret Campbell, Beverly Du Gas and Helen Niskala are among seventeen theses, dissertations and papers included. Miscellaneous photographs without sufficient provenance are included in this classification. Audiovisual materials on audio and video cassette, CD and DVDs are arranged as subseries.

Delphine Rose Alexander (nee Fletcher)
The subfonds consists of a centimetre of material relating to the nursing career of Delphine Rose Alexander. Most of it concerns her service in the Canadian Army Medical Corps in World War I, although some later information is available. It includes photocopies of forms and photographs relating to Delphine's service in the Canadian Expeditionary Force during WWI, including a group of fifteen photocopied photographs depicting the aftermath of four German air raids on the No. 1 Canadian hospital in Etaples, France on May 18, 1918. Biographical information has been supplied by her son.

The subfonds includes records dating from 1966 to the present. These are generated by the operation of the executive, the residing presiding officer, and the biennial meetings. The biennial meetings material includes programs and brochures for most years; minutes, correspondence, committee reports and financial records are also included. Records of meetings and related documents for the Vancouver region are included, but the other provincial regions are represented only by reports submitted to the executive. Membership lists for many years are included.
Numerous reports from BCORNG committees and other sources are included. These are mainly concerned with competency levels of OR nurses and operating room standards.
Over five hundred photographs document the Biennial Institute Conferences held every two years beginning in 1968, all of which are individually described. The last conference thus documented was held in Victoria in 1996. Artifacts include the BCORNG flag, and conference and membership pins.

Date reflects when original photographs were captured. File consists of four photocopied sheets containing fifteen photographs, fourteen of which were taken by Alexander at the No. 1 Canadian Hospital in Etaples, France in 1918. In addition to photographs of officers and an allied cemetery, many of the photographs depict the aftermath of four German air raids on the hospital on May 18, 1918, during which three nursing sisters and many patients and orderlies were killed. One photograph not taken by Delphine is an aerial photograph of the area.

The subfonds consists of three centimetres of textual records dating from 1925 to 1932 and three UBC graduation photographs. Personal effects and memorabilia include a photocopied certificate of birth, correspondence from Mary L. Bollert of the Office of the Dean of Women inquiring if Edith wished to have a membership in one of the sororities, a certificate of recognition as a 50-year member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity, a program for the 10th Annual Spring performance of the UBC Players Club, and a copy of The Art of Cooking and Serving.

Mary MacDonald was born in Upper South River, Antigonish, Nova Scotia, and was married January 29, 1924 in Los Angeles to James Mooney. She became a Registered Nurse in British Columbia November 23, 1920. She worked most of her life in Vancouver, and died in April 7, 1970 in New Westminster, British Columbia.
