Exhibitions

This series is made up of flyers, exhibition books, reviews and documentation regarding various exhibitions which Anna Banana was involved in creating or curating, such as 20 Years of Fooling Around With A. Banana, The Popular Art of Postal Parody, 45 Years of Fooling Around With A. Banana, and the Color Show. Records were created in the course of the curation of each exhibition, and include letters of introduction, originals and drafts of flyers and exhibition booklets, posters, name tags, and reviews or press of these exhibitions. A number of these exhibitions were retrospectives of Anna’s career, while other were curated to show various elements of mail art or performance.

Professional/Biographical series

The series consists of materials documenting Smedley’s professional and artistic career and his personal life, including CVs, exhibition catalogues and related documentation, review articles, and press cuttings.

The files are arranged with the CVs placed first and then chronologically.

Correspondence series

Series consists of Kevin Chong’s personal and professional correspondence and includes letters and postcards.

Michael K. Craddock fonds

The fonds consists of Craddock’s professional papers in the form of textual records (including correspondence, reports, minutes, course materials, interviews), published materials, technical research notes, presentation slides and reference materials. The papers primarily chronicle Craddock’s work and role at TRIUMF, particularly TRIUMF’s attempt to build a Kaon Factory particle accelerator. Many other aspects of TRUMF are documented in these papers, including- administration, various committees, workshops, published reports and research, various particle physics projects, physics reference files, and collaborations with other organizations. Craddock’s work on recording TRIUMF’s origins and history is also represented.
Outside of Craddock’s involvement with TRIUMF, other professional papers reflect his teaching career, talks, presentations, correspondence with colleagues, graduate students, and the public.

Newsletters series

Series consists of newsletters about the Johanneans from Australia, Beijing, Eastern U.S., Guangdong, Harbin, Hong Kong, Nanjing, New York, Northern California, Shanghai, Southern California, Tianjin and Vancouver. Some are from St. John’s University Medical Alumni Association in North America. The Series is arranged into thirty-eight files.

Magazines series

Series consists of biographies and news reports of famous Johanneans. Most magazines were published by WST Media Group Inc. between 2007 and 2009. Series is arranged into four files.

Multimedia materials series

Series consists of tapes, VHS tapes, and DVDs about the Johanneans. The tapes are part of the living memory oral history project. The interviews were conducted with Johanneans by interviewer Aaron Tam, a St. John’s College resident from Hong Kong. The interviews are conducted in both English and Chinese. Series is arranged into six files.

Departmental Records series

Series consists of correspondence, reports, and minutes of meetings about the administration of the Department of Botany. Also included is a copy of a B.A. honours thesis written and submitted by Cecile Margaret Handford in April 1926 and a 2015 commentary.

The fonds consists of constitutions, minutes, correspondence, financial records, programs, scrapbooks, speeches, membership lists, clippings, and assorted other material relating to the administration of the organization. In addition, the fonds includes recording of lectures delivered to the Vancouver Institute. It is arranged in the following series: history, constitution, minutes, correspondence, financial records, programs, membership records, newspaper clippings, series papers, and lectures.

Vancouver Institute

Lectures and Conferences series

Granirer presented lectures on Algebra around the world. This series contains his lecture notes and acetates on his talks in Europe, North America, South America and Asia. There are also photographs of Granirer and attendees of these conferences, including his final conference at UBC in 1997.

Community law

This series contains records from Ian Waddell's early career in Vancouver. Files include his time as the Legal Director for the Community Legal Assistance Society (a non-profit storefront law office located in Vancouver's east side that's generally believed to be the first community law office in the province) and participation with the Legal Services Commission and Consumer Action League, which also championed community and low-income access to legal support.

Records related to Waddell's involvement with the Alcohol and Drug Commission, which worked provincially to propose policies for regulation and treatment, and the Family Law Commission (specifically, a working group looking into a unified family court) are the majority of this series.

Files for related interests are also in the series. Records include correspondence, reports, newsletters, conference proceedings, research, speeches and lectures, press clippings, legislation, notes, minutes and agendas.

Trans-Himalayan Aid Society fonds

Fonds consists of records generated by TRAS in the course of raising funds for, and administering funds to, overseas partners. The fonds is organized into the following series: administrative records (1962-1990) and project records (1964-1997). The film “Initiation of a Dalai Lama” was brought to UBC by John Conway in May 1988 to be deposited with the records of TRAS. Documentation from 1970 with the film suggests the film was borrowed from UBC Audio-Visual Services Extension Department by Dr. Shotaro Iida for use by the Dalai Lama.

Sub-series documents the administrative activities of TRAS. Files contain minutes of meetings, newsletters, reports on visits to India, and other general material such as clippings, correspondence, and newsletters from other organizations.

Ann Kipling

File consists of notes, interview transcripts, correspondence, a photograph, permission forms, color scans of photographs, promotional and gallery materials, and other published articles related to Ann Kipling's life and art work used by Ainslie in the writing of her book.

Publications

Sub-series consists of published copies of chapbooks, monographs, journals, and conference proceedings that Miki wrote, co-wrote, edited, co-edited, and contributed to. Volumes are arranged chronologically according to date of publication except for poetry chapbooks which are located at the beginning of the sub-series.
