CP Ships Empress of Canada last voyage

This album consists of photographs, newsletters, and other textual material assembled by Mrs. E. M. E. Ratcliffe during the last voyage of the third C.P. R.M.S. Empress of Canada, from Liverpool to Montreal, November 8 to 14, 1971. Included in the album are postcards of the ship, photographs of Ratcliffe, the ship's captain, Bill Williams, and other passengers aboard the ship. Also present are daily journal writings by Mrs. Ratcliffe on C.P. R.M.S. Empress of Canada letterhead, two copies of the passenger list, menus, invitations to cocktail parties, some issues of The Empress News printed on board the ship, including the November 9th issue announcing the withdrawal of the C.P. R.M.S. Empress of Canada from service, and some news clippings regarding the withdrawal.

Reports, letters, newspaper clippings, and other textual and graphic material related to Captain George Goold

File contains Goold's 1901 Apprentice's Indenture and several letters of reference, clippings related to Goold, the signed report of the Empress of Russia's first officer, C. H. Belton, on the fire that destroyed the Empress of Russia, Goold's weekly reports to Captain R. N. Stuart, general manager of Canadian Pacific Steamships Limited, regarding the salvage operations carried out on the Empress of Russia in September and October of 1945, and a manuscript list and a form itemizing personal effects lost by Goold as a result of the fire.
