The Research and reference resources series comprises materials from third parties that VSW collected to support its research projects and the needs of its visitors. Record types include briefs and reports from other organizations, newspaper and magazine clippings, VSW correspondence, grey literature, copies of academic journals, and cassette tapes in honour of International Women’s Day.

The Advocacy series features records related to VSW lobbying and advocacy activities. These activities primarily included organizing and participating in committees and task forces set up by all levels of government, lobbying, and preparing briefs on legislative documents and materials. Record types include: correspondence with the Ministry of Justice and different coalitions such as BC Coalition of Women Centres and the 52% Coalition; meeting agendas and minutes; information sheets and brochures; event invitations; and other materials arising from VSW’s lobbying and advocacy work.

The Kinesis series includes records related to production, publication, marketing, and distribution of Kinesis, Vancouver Status of Women’ most significant publication in BC. The Kinesis photobank and production room materials series contains materials from the production room of Kinesis. These materials predominantly reflect the production cycle of the magazine and its records organization system for photographic and graphic materials that were used in or collected for future use in the magazine. Records include photographs, negatives, contact sheets, ephemera, and administrative records.

The fonds consists of a letter book (outgoing) pertaining to Ladner's activities as a manager of the Wellington Packing Company at Canoe Pass near Ladner on the Fraser River (1892-1896).

The fonds consists of five parchment and paper legal documents with appended seals which document land transactions in Sussex, Surrey and Norfolk. These documents concern entails, land transfers and loans involving the Turnour family in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Other materials include leases, releases, transfers, declarations, a deed of covenant, a will extract and several duty stamps. There is also a collection of maps.

The fonds consists of material pertaining to Scott's career as a newspaper editor, including with newspapers such as the Sackville Post and Vancouver News-Advertiser, as well as material relating to his political, educational and literary endeavours and interests. Included are biographical materials, incoming and outgoing letters (1838-1923), subject files, articles and essays by Scott (1875-1922), ephemera, photographs, maps and printed material.

The fonds consists of correspondence (1952-1976), primarily incoming, as well as published and unpublished manuscripts of poetry, prose, essays and plays. The fonds also includes biographical material, financial records (1967-1976), reviews written by (1948-1973) and about (1963-1973) Cooperman, two photographs of Cooperman, printed materials, course files, tapes of interviews, lectures and poetry readings.

These papers consist of 5 metres of Stuart Keate's personal papers which he kept in files at the office or at home. They span the years 1918(?) to his death in 1987. The bulk of the collection dates from 1943 to 1987. The majority of the records are textual records. Other media include 268 photographs, one negative and 14 tape recordings.
The papers cover four main areas of interest. Firstly, they provide background information on policy and editorial decisions made by Keate, his superiors and his staff when he was publisher at the Vancouver Sun, the Victoria Daily Province and Bureau Chief for Time Magazine in Montreal.
Information concerning publishing and editorial decisions can be found in those files of memos and correspondence between Keate and Bruce Hutchison, Max Bell, R .A . Malone, G .N .M . Currie, F .P . Pulbications Limited and Allan Fotheringham and a few other members of The Vancouver Sun staff. These will mainly be found in the Victoria Daily Times and The Vancouver Sun files. There are also some files in Keate's home files. Files of letters and ideas for his book, Paper Boy, which was published in 1980, provide further information on policy and editorial positions as well as much information on newspaper magnate Max Bell about whom he wanted one day to write a book.
Secondly, these papers provide an insight into Keate's wide range of interests, activities and involvement in the community and public affairs particularly in the 1960s and 1970s. There are copies of over 150 speeches written by Keate. There are a series of notes, letters and a report he prepared for the federal government as a neutral mediator in 1966 dealing with the CBC's handling of personnel of the program, "This Hour Has Seven Days." Numerous correspondence files with service, recreational and community groups as well as scrapbooks, tape recordings and photographs of sportsmen and political figures furnish a picture of a man keenly interested in his city, province, and country.
Thirdly, the files cover his experiences as an information officer for the Department of National Defence - Naval Service during the second World War. They consist of correspondence with his wife, with the Department of National Defense Naval Office and a diary written while on board the ship the HMSS Uganda in 1945.
Fourthly, they show Keate, the author, at work. There are a number of drafts as well as correspondence relating to his book, Paper Boy. Various manuscripts in the collection also document his writing activities.

The fonds consists of records related to the Service, Office, and Retail Workers Union of Canada’s (SORWUC’s) local chapters 2 and 4 administrative activities, organizing endeavours and legal proceedings. Although the records are primarily related to the United Bank Works (UBW), local 2, and Bank and Finance Workers Union, local 4, many records are related to SORWUC’s national activities as a trade union. These activities include organization and certification of new bargaining units, filing unfair labour practices on behalf of union members, pamphleting and raising funds for the union as a whole, organizing strikes, and fighting court battles for the right to organize in new sectors, such as the banks. Additionally, SORWUC kept various reference materials on topics related to feminism and the rights of laborers. The fonds reflect these different organizational activities in three series: Legal, Organizing, and Administration.

The Legal series consists of records related to the union’s legal activities. These records include Unfair Labour Practice (ULP) charges filed against banks and heard by the Canadian Labour Relations Board (CLRB), applications for certification in the CLRB, notes, correspondence, news clippings, and legal briefs.

The Organizing series consists of material relating to the organizing activities of SORWUC, including correspondence, research, membership forms, sign-up sheets and information relating to bank branches seeking certification. Also included are contract proposals, organizing committee papers by branch, and minutes of negotiation meetings, press clippings and press releases.

The Administration series relates to the various administrative activities of SORWUC locals 2 and 4; including financial activities, research for court cases, as well as related issues to the union such as unemployment and racism; public relations documents including press releases; and minutes of meetings.

The fonds consists of a manuscript, black-and-white and colour prints, and slide images relating to life in the Szechuan province of China (1920-1950). A manuscript entitled A Trip to Tibet (Summer 1930) with photographs chronicles a trip taken by the Crooks with fellow medics and missionaries. The considerable slide and print collection reveals aspects of Chinese people, life and topography as well as Asian-Christian subjects.

The fonds consists of minutes, agendas, reports, correspondence, notebooks, financial records, lists, speeches and subject files generated by the Vancouver-Kingsway Constituency Association of the NDP (1972- 1975). Fonds consists of one financial ledger book which details an appraisal conducted of Wood and Englishs physical assets in 1940. The appraisal was conducted by the General Appraisal Company and lists the value of assets in Wood and Englishs various operations. These operations include: saw mill, power house, planning mill, sorting transfer shed and hog house.

Fonds reflects YWCA Metro Vancouver’s social and community services, programming, advocacy for women’s and gender issues, organizational administration, fundraising, publicity and communications management, and collaboration with affiliated service- and advocacy-based organizations.

Fonds consists of 947 letters, bills of exchange, and telegrams sent from Victoria-area merchants to Royal Fisk, a forwarding and shipping agent in San Francisco, during the Cariboo Gold Rush. Letters provide insight into the effect of the Cariboo Gold Rush on trade and commerce in Victoria at the time. Topics covered in the letters include ordering goods; remitting cash, gold and drafts; advising of market prices; conditions in the mines of Victoria and Puget Sound; providing news of latest gold discoveries, shipping activity, finances, and mergers or dissolutions; business alliances; establishing express services; arrival of the first telegraph; et al.

The fonds reflects the process of creating the documentary film Bevel Up: Drugs, Users and Outreach Nursing (entitled “Taking Health to the Streets” during production). Bevel Up is a co-production between the Street Nurse Program of the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) and the National Film Board of Canada (NFB), with financial support from Health Canada and the BC Nurses’ Union (BCNU), and was created in collaboration with Canada Wild Productions Ltd. (Nettie Wild and Betsy Carson).

Filmed over six months in 2006, and over two years in production, Bevel Up was created in collaboration with the street nurses and a crew which included director Nettie Wild, cinematographer Kirk Tougas, producer Betsy Carson, and editor Mike Brockington.

Bevel Up is a 45-minute film, shot in the style of cinema verite (showing people in everyday situations), at the heart of a four-and-a-half-hour interactive DVD that features separate menus on a range of professional, ethical, and legal issues related to the delivery of health care to drug users. There is also an accompanying teaching guide.

The documentary was the brainchild of Caroline Brunt, a street nurse with the B.C. Centre for Disease Control and is designed to help student nurses and seasoned professionals working with drug using populations. Bevel Up: Drugs, Users and Outreach Nursing follows a team of street nurses as they reach out to youth, sex workers and street entrenched men and women in the alleys and hotels of Vancouver’s Downtown East Side. Most importantly, the nurses reflect on attitudes that can make or break the relationship needed to successfully provide practical and nonjudgmental health care.

Materials include master tapes of raw footage, edited video and audio tapes, final copies of the interactive DVD and teaching manual, CDs containing the French translation of the teaching manual, a promotion trailer, a publicity clip reel, printed annotated transcripts, press kits, publicity posters, magazine reviews, a distribution chart and a publicity report.
