The interviews were conducted with Johanneans by interviewer Aaron Tam, a St. John’s College resident from Hong Kong. The interviews are conducted in both English and Chinese. Series is arranged into six files.

The series consists of the development of the code book, printouts of data, and specific contextual information pertinent to the study that was included in a database. This data was used to compute statistical analyses and derive conclusions. It includes the work of studies done by other researchers on related topics. The order of the printouts has been retained as it is believed they were in their original order when reviewed during processing.

This series is dedicated to Sybren’s Lecture and Course Notes from his time as a demonstrator of Civil Engineering at the University of Toronto and his time as an associate professor and professor at the University of British Columbia. For over a decade, Sybren taught Civil Engineering 353 and Civil Engineering 453 at UBC. This series includes mathematical problems that he would give to his students, exam preparation notes, and reading lists.

This series includes correspondence and minutes from various associations in that Sybren participated. The Association of Professional Engineers minutes from 1960-1977 is quite comprehensive. It also includes some papers forwarded to him from colleagues and students, correspondence, and other documents related to professional conferences and other scholarly activities.
Series consists of video recordings made for a documentary on the history of the Fraser Canyon (titled “On The Fraser”), focusing on the First Nations of that region and the building of the Canadian Pacific and Canadian National railways. It was a joint project by the UBC Departments of Geography and Theatre and Film, with graduate students led by Raymond Hall (Theatre and Film) and Cole Harris (Geography). All recordings are in Betacam format.

Subseries consists of records related to the Family Reconstitutions Project, including censuses, maps, tax assessment rolls, and research notes. The Project was a series of family reconstitution studies for the cities of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia and Perth, Ontario, in the 18th and 19th centuries. Ward pursued a professional and personal interest in this project, but it did not reach the publication stage.
