This fonds is arranged into three series that track Symonds' various roles as an urban planning professional. The Urban Education/Teacher in the City series contains records created or received by Symonds while she served in the Continuing Education department at UBC, including her seminal effort to publish The Teacher and the City. The second series, Commissions and Committee Work, details Symonds' service on the Vancouver City Planning Commission and other planning-related committees she chaired or participated in for both the local B.C. context and internationally. The final series, Planning Publications, Speeches, and Writings, focuses on writings or pieces created by Symonds or publications she set aside for her purposes. These date from the early beginnings of her urban planning career in the 1950s to well after her retirement in 1983. The records included in the fonds are correspondence, meeting minutes, photographs, journal articles, newspaper clippings, brochures, memoranda, reports and invitations.

The collection consists of materials related to Aboriginal Peoples’ land claims and forestry practices in British Columbia and worldwide. Materials include correspondence, press clippings, publications, and reports.

Celebration in 1934, materials on French Canadian folk songs, the International celebration of Niagara, and awards Ms. Greig received.

The fonds consists of correspondence, speeches, photographs, petitions, and clippings about the Student Publicity Campaign (1922/23). The fonds also includes copies of speeches delivered on other occasions, memorabilia from Richards' graduation in 1923 and other miscellaneous material.

Fonds consists of course materials, correspondence, subject files, reports, clippings, printed material, and index cards, relating to Hutchinson's work with the UBC Department of Biology and Botany. The fonds reflects his research interests, which included studies of conifers, forest ecology and tree genetics, particularly of the Douglas fir; to a limited extent, his personal life is also documented. The fonds also includes approximately 3,600 photographic negatives and prints (most black and white, some in colour), 1,200 lantern slides, and some transparencies. The photographs are mainly microscopic images of plants and trees in British Columbia, Mexico, Cuba, Florida and South Africa in the early part of the twentieth century. There is also a photograph album accompanying Hutchinson's report Grazing Lands in British Columbia. Finally, there are maps, charts, and diagrams, which are listed and stored separately.

The fonds consists mainly of records generated by the Alumni Association in the course of its programs and activities and by its branches and divisions. The records are in the form of correspondence, reports, minutes of meetings, manuscripts for The Chronicle, and some published materials. Also included in the fonds are materials of historical interest collected by Frances Tucker in the course of her research for a history of the Association published for its fiftieth anniversary in 1966; these consist of written notes, clippings and other published materials, scrapbooks, photographs, correspondence, the first draft of her project, and index cards. Finally, the records of Harry Franklin, Executive Director from 1972 to 1979, are included; the files contain some Association records as well as Franklin's. Records stored in boxes 1-20 date from 1911 to 1966, and the rest date from 1955 to 1992. Because of the long time period between the accessions of these two bodies of records, and their different organization, they have not been physically integrated. Wherever possible, their original order has been maintained or restored. The fonds consists of textual materials focusing on Leonard Marsh's professional research and personal interests and includes correspondence, reports, notes, published materials and clippings, diaries, scrapbooks, and index cards. It is organized in the following series: Education, Music, Personal Papers, Search for Sanity, Social Prophecy, Social Security, Social Work, United Nations, Urban Planning, Miscellaneous, and Scrapbooks.

Fonds consists of correspondence, photographs, clippings, artifacts, publications, legal documents, notes, transcripts of lectures and broadcasts, examinations, certificates, and other miscellaneous items. Most of the material was created and collected by Sedgewick himself and a small amount was collected by friends including Robert apRoberts after Sedgewick's death.

The records document Chambers' activities in three research projects that all attempt to reconcile the disputes between preservation and development interests in resource management. The first project is documented extensively. The last two projects offer only a glimpse into the response of the Nazko-Kluskus First Nations to the issues raised in the Purcell study. These papers offer valuable evidence of the continuing conflict surrounding resource management and First Nations land rights in B.C. and Chambers's role in attempting to find a resolution. There are three series of records that correspond to these three projects. Because the original order has been lost, it has been reconstructed with reference to the functions and activities of each project. Files within each series have been arranged in chronological order. Undated documents have been placed at the back of each file.

The fonds consists of correspondence (1940-1984), articles and addresses by Soward (1926-1969), book reviews (1950-1965), collected articles and book reviews by others, and a collection of newspaper and magazine clippings. Also included are copies of a weekly column entitled "The Way of the World" that Soward wrote for the Vancouver Morning Star (1927-1929).
