Bruce Devitt completed this report in the spring of 1957 for credit in the Forestry 455 course, which was offered by the UBC Faculty of Forestry. The report is titled: "A Preliminary Attempt to Classify the Lodgepole Pine Stands of the Interior of British Columbia - A View Towards Planned Silviculture."

The Research Notes series includes material compiled by Devitt for presentations and reports delivered at meetings such as the Public Policy National Resources Conferences in 1981 and on a more regular basis at the annual meetings of the Association of BC Professional Foresters. The series features lectures, presentations, and interviews that Bruce Devitt gave at meetings of institutions in which he actively participated as both a member and chair of various committees at the local, provincial, and national levels.

The survey photography series consists of photographic material compiled by Devitt over decades of field work in British Columbia. The albums include black and white photos as well as multiple sets of 35mm. slides. These color slides cover the evolution from natural regeneration, bare root nurseries to tree planting. Also featured are processes for tree seed registration, tree selection and grafting into seed orchards for seed extraction and storage. The series also includes photograph prints of people and events related to the forestry industry in British Columbia.

The Bill Young series include a compilation of speeches by Bill Young, B.C.'s chief forester from 1978 – 1984 in addition to research files from Ralph Schmidt.
