GIVEN UNDER MY HAND AND SEAL AT VICTORIA, VANCOUVER’S ISLAND, THE THIRD DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1858, IN THE TWENTY SECOND YEAR OF HER MAJESTY’S REIGN. GOD SAVE THE QUEEN.
Revokes the Crown Grant, 1838, to HBC for exclusive trading with the Indians, insofar as the said Grant embraces or extends to the Territories comprised in the Colony af British Columbia. This Proclamation was read after Douglas had been sworn in as Governor of British Columbia on November 19th.
