Custodial history
The fonds and its contents were recovered from a dumpster during a home renovation and were kept in storage for several years before being bought by a private bookseller. The bookseller reorganized the fonds before selling them to the UBC Rare Books and Special Collections. The fonds was acquired on February 25, 2012.
Scope and content
The fonds consists of photographs and textual records which belonged to the Inouye family. The records are related mostly to the father, Zennosuke Inouye and his involvement with the Surrey Berry Farmers Cooperative and his youngest daughter, Kiyooki (Beverly) Inouye. The fonds has been arranged into the following series: Surrey Berry Farmers Cooperative records, correspondence, ephemera, land records, photographs, military records, financial records, and voting records.

The fonds was acquired from a local bookseller, Don Stewart of MacLeod's Books in Vancouver, BC.
Arrangement
The fonds did not have any evidence of original order. The prior custodian of the fonds rearranged the contents and the extent of this rearrangement is unknown. In addition, some of the materials were not placed in folders and had no apparent order. Arrangement was provided by the archivist.

Nikkei Museum in Burnaby, BC has 80 letters by Zennosuke from his campaign to regain his veteran settlement land after the Interment of Japanese-Canadians during WWII and sale of his property and goods to the Custodian. In addition to this, it also has Hatsuno’s pattern scrapbook, tracing paper, a quilt, and five duffel bags used to move the family to Kaslo.
