Donated to UBC Library by Mr. Barj Dhahan in August 2013. The photograph had been in Mr. Dhahan's family for some years.

Scope and content

Photograph depicts the Sikh Sangat of Macao, with Chinese wives and children. The Sikh men in uniform have hand colouring applied to their turbans in the form of three green stripes. There are inscriptions in Punjabi along the bottom of the photograph and a stamp applied to the top from which the photograph title was derived. A translation of the Punjabi text is as follows: "This is a picture of the Sikh Sangat of Macau. Some of the Sikhs are sitting along with their Chinese Sikh wives and children."

Physical condition

Photograph is mounted to a mat, which has experienced water damage. The photograph has a loss to its lower right quadrant and slight yellowing around its edges.

Conservator removed photograph from original frame. The frame is housed separately for preservation.
