The series contains records and correspondence related to Nakayama’s personal life and administrative affairs. The series contains incoming and outgoing personal and family correspondence and correspondence logbooks; address books and directories; administrative correspondence and records; clippings, ephemera, and scrapbooks; maps; photographs; calligraphy and paintings on shikishi; and other materials. Personal and family correspondence includes correspondence to and from Nakayama’s children Joy Nakayama Kogawa and Timothy Nakayama, correspondence to and from prayer partners and friends, holiday and greeting cards, among other materials. The series contains incoming correspondence from Japan, North America, Central and South America, Australia, and Europe. Administrative correspondence and records include medical records; travel documents and citizenship records, including passports and travel vaccination certificates; pension records; Nakayama’s redress application and related records; records pertaining to personal legal proceedings; Issei book project records; certificates, licenses, and membership cards; property and real estate records; banking and financial records; educational records, including I.D. cards and certificates; and biographical information, as well as related correspondence. Ephemera in the series includes church bulletins and service programs, among other materials. The series also contains logbooks of gifts received, a Book of Common Prayer, and a Japanese Bible. Materials in the series are in Japanese, English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
