Biographical history
Born in Scotland in 1905, Amy Dalgleish emigrated to Canada at an early age and eventually settled in Vancouver. A long time Cooperative Commonwealth Federation supporter, she eventually ran as an NDP candidate in Vancouver. Active with a number of socially-concerned groups, she became president of INFACT, which is a breastfeeding advocacy group. She continued to have an interest in various social issues until her death in 1990.

The fonds consists of subject files created and accumulated by Amy Dalgleish relating to various organizations in which she was involved such as the New Democratic Pary and the Vancouver Society of Friends for the Elderly as well as social issues such as breastfeeding.

Most of the material was arranged and maintained in files according to subject matter by Ms. Dalgliesh before deposit : therefore ; this arrangement has been maintained. The records which were not arranged by Ms. Dalgliesh have been organized so as to facilitate access and retrieval .
