Custodial history
The records transferred to Special Collections Division from the New Westminster Office of the New Democratic party Youth in April of 1975 are chiefly the records of the British Columbia Young New Democrats, 1966—74, and printed material created and gathered relating to their interests and activities.
Although some of the records were arranged in chronological order, there was not an overall filing pattern evident . Some files were in quite a disarry when they arrived ; some of the material was not foldered at all. All that has been done is the establishment of series by type of material (i.e., minutes, correspondence, press releases, etc.), and within the series the breakdown is roughly by subject and chronology.
Scope and content
The fonds consists of materials created out of activities of the British Columbia Young New Democrats and records collected relating to political interests. Correspondence, minutes, agendas, financial records, constitutions, subject files and printed materials reflect the varied pursuits of the organization.
