Ada Luise Richardson fonds

This fonds contains Ada Luise Richardson's research notes on music history and theory. Her research focused on Finnland and Russia and was conducted in the beginning of the 20th century. For her research Richardson collected Russian and Finnish folklore songs, as well as newspaper clippings and excerpts from contemporary literature. Richardson's research notes were meant to be the basis of papers on music history and theory. The fonds contains music sheets and some pieces of correspondence, as well.

The collection consists of photocopied minutes of a drama society of the Finnish Social Democrats at Sointula (1912-1913) and a play adapted for use by A. Orjatsals. Also included are the minutes of the FSD.

Kustaa Ketola fonds

Personal and professional records of Kustaa Adolf Ketola, including personal documents, correspondence, International Woodworkers of America pamphlets, newspapers, and magazines. The personal documents include his passport and his military service pass. Correspondence consists of Christmas postcards from his family in Finland and letters from his sisters, friends, and family friends describing their lives in Finland, which provides context about the impact that World War II had upon Finland and Finnish migrants to Canada. I.W.A. pamphlets describe the values, goals, and struggles of union workers in 1940s North America. Fonds also contains small pocket calendars or planners written in Finnish and denoting important holidays, metric conversions, and information about the United States.

The fonds consists of photocopied minute books of the Finnish Workers' Association "Raivaija" (1910-1918), Finnish Organization of Canada, Local No. 55 (1934-1969), and Webster's Corner Socialist Local (1922-1955). The fonds also includes photocopies of financial records of Local No. 55 (1949-1957) and of subject files pertaining to the development of the Finnish culture in Canada.
