    The photographs were recovered from a website, resulting in some dates reflecting last possible modified date rather than the date of capture. The date of creation of digital files ranges from 2008-2019, however the date of capture, while unknown in some cases, all occurred between 2008-2016.

Biographical history

Dean Gregory joined the University of British Columbia as the UBC Landscape Architect in 2009 and provides planning, design, and policy leadership on all landscape architectural matters associated with campus planning, design, and operations at the University of British Columbia’s Vancouver and Okanagan campuses. He works closely with staff, faculty, students, and community stakeholders to create a public realm that enhances the learning environment, social experience, and wellbeing of the people who study, teach, work and live at the university. He is responsible for design review and guidance on all landscape within the parameters of budget, schedule, and policy. Gregory has won awards for his design work at UBC, has served on several design juries and panels, and has authored articles related to campus planning and design. Prior to joining the University of British Columbia in 2009, he was in private practice in Chicago and Seattle where he was involved in significant public realm planning and design projects throughout the United States.

Custodial history

The fonds was donated by Dean Gregory to Okanagan Special Collections in 2023.

Scope and content

The fonds consists of born-digital photographs Gregory took in his role as UBC Landscape Architect of the University of British Columbia Okanagan Campus between 2008 and 2016. Photographs depict the construction of landscape features and gardens as well as their growth, demonstrating the change on campus throughout the years.
