Scope and content
Series consists of Stacey's research files related to the fishing industry. Unless otherwise noted, files consist entirely or predominantly of photocopied materials that have, to varying degrees, been organised, highlighted, and annotated by Stacey. Files also contain some handwritten notes, published materials, interview transcripts, and correspondence, all of which relate primarily to First Nations fisheries and licensing. Other topics include: fishing techniques and equipment; fish species; fisheries unions and workers; the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and fisheries legislation; the Hudson's Bay Company; various canneries in BC; Steveston, BC and its Japanese community, and more. These files were used by Stacey in his various roles as historian, researcher, author, expert witness, and consultant.
Whenever possible, file names and order within files as given by the records creator have been respected.
