Administrative history
The Forest History Association of British Columbia's primary interests pertain to the preservation of history of the evolution of forest resource management and the associated social and political aspects. Members of the association represent a variety of professions related to the forestry industry and included residents of the province of British Columbia, the western United States and eastern Canada. The intentions of the association are to encourage the collection, preservation, cataloguing, and use of historical material related to the conservation, management, and utilization of the forests of the province. The Forest History Association of B.C. publishes a newsletter containing articles, biographies, lists of new literature, book reviews, notices of meetings, and requests for information from researchers.
Custodial history
The Forest History Association of British Columbia fonds was donated to the City of Vancouver Archives on May 1, 2002. In 2008, based on a decision made by the association's executive committee, records were transferred to UBC Rare Books and Special Collections.
Scope and content
Records primarily include research on various individuals involved in the forest industry of British Columbia from the 1930s to the 1970s. These research materials have been gathered and organized by members of the association and include original photographic prints, photograph reprints, correspondence, and written or recorded oral testimonies and interviews.

Immediate source of acquisition
In addition to the 2008 records, an additional accrual to the fonds was made by the Forest History Association of British Columbia.
Arrangement
Originally, files contained audio cassette tapes and photographs. These items have been removed, attributed applicable identification numbers and are stored separately in the archival vault. In order to express the original order of the materials, removal of items is notated in the description of the files and the source location of the items is notated in the description of the items.
In some cases files contained audio cassette tape(s), photographs and a single piece of paper stating that the file contained such items. In these instances, the source files have been retained in order to represent the original placement of the material.
The files received in the accrual were arranged in the same series identified by the archivist in 2008. The archivist maintained original order of the materials in the accrual. Where present, file titles have been maintained, supplied titles have been placed in brackets.
