History

Frances (nee Olafson) Hanson was born on September 25, 1929 in Osland, British Columbia to Clara and Oly Olafson. The Olafsons resided there until 1943 when they moved to Dodge Cove, British Columbia, and then to Prince Rupert, British Columbia in 1944. She married Brian Hanson and had three children: Debbie, Chris, and David. Hanson was known for writing Memories of Osland, a book that presents histories of numerous families which settled at Osland, British Columbia and first person accounts of life in the various scattered Icelandic communities. Hanson died on October 20, 2012.
