This collection consists of correspondence and published materials gathered by Betty Clarke Pearson about the last voyage of Empress of Canada that was sunk by an Italian submarine on March 14th, 1943. Betty's father, John St.Claire Clarke, was the chief officer of Empress of Canada at the time of the attack. He survived while nearly 400 others were lost. Betty gathered these documents which include newspaper clippings, photographs, correspondence, and a memorandum speech, reflecting stories of her father along with other survivors of the attack.

The fonds includes correspondences, notebooks, calendars, lecture and speaking notes, research notes, articles and other collected materials related to Shadbolt's independent research on a variety of topics related to local, national and international art and artists, annotated books, photographs and sound recordings.

The fonds consists of Eric Nicol’s business correspondence, drafts (handwritten notebooks and typescripts) for various writings, finished scripts for plays and shows, drafts, reference materials, reviews of his work, printed materials featuring his articles, subject files, royalty statements and other financial records regarding the publication of Nicol's books, as well as posters, newspaper clippings, awards, photographs and other ephemera which document Nicol's career as a writer. The fonds contains a file of his correspondence with The Vancouver Sun, which was kept by the Sun and later given to Nicol. His writings are categorized into radio scripts, television scripts, stage scripts, books, articles, short stories and other writings. Drafts and related materials of each category comprise a series.

The fonds reflects Leonard and Kitty Maracle's involvement in the British Columbia Association of Non-Status Indians (BCANSI), as well as various other Aboriginal organizations, committees, clubs, programs, projects and events. The fonds consists of correspondence, meeting minutes, proposals and reports, notes, publications, newspaper clippings, photographs and various ephemera relating to Aboriginal rights and political activity primarily in British Columbia but also throughout Canada. The fonds also contains some of Leonard and Kitty’s personal papers, including correspondence, family photographs, writings and notes.

The fonds also includes many plans, photographs and slides and some artifacts. The fonds consists of 71 holograph letters from Ethel Wilson to Cheney, as well as correspondence from Wallace Wilson, Mary [Dodds] and Dorothy McNair. There is also correspondence between Nan Cheney and various artists, including Emily Carr, between the years 1938 and 1984. Cheney's subject files on Canadian artists are included in the fonds, along with newspaper and periodical clippings, memorabilia, photographs and manuscripts.

Moses Cotsworth fonds

The fonds consists of textual records, photographs (prints and Negatives), pictorial images, postcards, statistical information, and maps. All of the records reflect Moses B. Cotsworth's involvement in calendar reform and his efforts to make his 13-month calendar more widely known throughout the world. Administrative records of his International Fixed Calendar League as well as papers reflecting his interests in mathematics, astronomy and astrology are included. The records have been arranged into the following series: Correspondence and Personal Notes; Newspaper Articles; Pamphlets on Calendar Reform and Related Material; Posters and Related Material; Records Relating to Egypt (Pyramids, Sphinx); Records Relating to Stonehenge; Statistical Charts and Graphs; and Records Relating to Miscellaneous Subjects.

W.G. Burch fonds

Many of the records in this fonds were used in relation to Burch’s autobiography, and therefore pertain to his childhood, education, navy service, and largely to his career as a forester. These records include genealogical research materials, photographs, educational certificates, navy service records, and textual documentation of his career and interests in forestry. It also reflects other projects undertaken by Burch, such as the Working Forest publication, a history of South Vancouver Island, as well as papers, research, correspondence, and speeches. The fonds is divided into four series: Biographical materials; Papers, speeches and correspondence; British Columbia Forest Products; South Vancouver Island history; and The Working Forest project.

Nan Cheney Photographs

The photos, negative, and slides (the slides are duplicate images of the photos, with one or two exceptions) BC1849/1-86 are primarily images of Emily Carr and her artwork.

The slides BC1849/90-158 are primarily informal images taken by Cheney of her numerous Canadian artist friends, as well as slides portraying various U.B.C. dignitaries and other well-known Canadians. These date from 1951-1969 and include a section (numbered BC1849/149(a-f)-158) that is devoted to Dr.’s Ethel and Wallace Wilson.

Photographs numbered BC1849/159-200 are mainly photographs of Nan Cheney’s many friends and acquaintances, as well as photographs of art work, including her own. Also there is a series of photographs which record a sculpture show at U.B.C. in 1956 (BC1849/196a-1).

H.R. MacMillan Canadian History collection

The collection consists of correspondence, warrants, commissions, printed ordinances, a deed, a financial statement, literary works, other documentary forms, and a seal pertaining to various figures and events in Canadian history. MacMillan assembled the material from various sources. Also included is a photograph of a logging scene in Vancouver (ca. 1900) and of East Indigenous workers at Canadian Western Lumber Company, ca. 1900-1910.

The fonds consists of correspondence (both personal and business), manuscripts of novels, short stories (some untitled), and poetry, as well as reviews of Ethel Wilson's work, contracts, photographs, awards, diaries (1938-1942) and subject files. Files created by MacMillan Company of Canada relating to the publication of some of Ethel Wilson's novels have been added to the fonds. Included are subject files relating to "Hetty Dorval", "The Innocent Traveller", "The Equations of Love", "Love and Salt Water", and "Mrs. Golightly and Other Stories" as well as articles of short works and articles, clippings, and correspondence regarding Ethel Wilson (1944-1972).

蔣中正總統追思禮拜儀節 = Memorial Service for Late President Chiang Kai-Shek

This document is a pamphlet outlining the the memorial services for Chiang Kai-shek. It includes a portrait of Chiang, logistical information relating to the service, Chiang's last words to party members, and a brief biography of the deceased. Lastly, there are transcriptions of the last prayers and hymns included for service attendees. The document contains separate but equal English and traditional Chinese translations.
