Positive Women's Network fonds

The fonds consists of records related to the Positive Women’s Network (PWN) various programs and projects, support and educational resources, and operations and administrative activities. The fonds reflects this in the following three series: Operations and Administration, Support and Education, and Programs and Projects.

The Operations and Administration series contains records related to the PWN’s administrative activities and day-to-day operations including the Board of Directors’ policies and procedures, operational budgets and applications for operational funding, correspondence with other organizations, strategic planning for the organization, and organizational budgets.

The Support and Education series consists of records related to the PWN’s various resources for training and supporting PWN members, their friends and family, health care providers, and the larger community as a whole. Record types include retreat materials, toolkits, pocket guides, training kits, educational materials, Positive Side newsletters, magazines, workshop materials, artwork, memorial and guest books, and other materials.

The Programs and Projects series features records related to the several programs and projects that the PWN launched either individually or as partners with other organizations.

Positive Women's Network

Ministry of Health (2 of 2)

File contains correspondence between B.C. Ministry of Health (MOH) and PWN regarding funding for the PWN’s main operations including Aids prevention, education and support services, as well as a contract between MOH and PWN and information on government required criminal background checks.

Public Health Services Authority

File contains contracts between Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) and The Positive Women's Network Society (PWN) regarding funding, appendices with details of operative programs including health and support, correspondence, and insurance records,

AIDS Community Action Program (1 of 2)

File contains correspondence between Positive Women's Network (PWN) executive director and AIDS Community Action Program (ACAP) regarding funding, progress reports for operational projects, and contribution agreement between ACAP and PWN.

AIDS Community Action Program (2 of 2)

File contains progress report for operational projects, objectives and work-plan for AIDS Community Action Program (ACAP) funded Positive Women's Network (PWN) support program, instructions for completing the AIDS Community Action Program, quarterly cash-flow reports, correspondence, including faxes, emails and letters between ACAP and PWN, ACAP orientation meeting minutes, agenda, list of attendees, report, The Canadian Strategy on HIV/AIDS, hand-written notes, and ACAP regional strategy documents.

Provincial Health Services Authority

File contains health services contract between Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) and The Positive Women's Network Society (PWN) as well as correspondence, insurance records, rationale for programming, and budgets.

Peer Support Training Toolkit

File contains training toolkit documents, as well as, A Practical Guide to HIV Drug Treatment, various pamphlets, notes from peer support training days, and a CD of sample templates of the PWN Retreat Planning toolkits.

Disclosure/criminalization

File contains information on film, ‘Positive Women: Exposing Injustice’ records relating to legislation of disclosure of criminalization status, and discussion guides on both topics.

Deliberative dialogue

File contains agendas, presentation materials, and planning road map from the National Deliberative Dialogue on Integrated Approaches to HIV Treatment and Prevention (T & P)

SERC

File contains correspondence and records related to pilot research study, 'Directly observed therapy programme for Recent HIV seroconverters in the downtown eastside', funded by the Surveillance, Epidemiology & Research Review Committee (SERC) of the British Columbia Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS.

File contains awards and trophies received by the Positive Women's Network for their services.

[Framed items]

File contains items kept in frames by Positive Women's Network including informational sign about memorial book, 2007 Accolaid certificate, certificate from Annual BC Aboriginal HIV/AIDS Conference, and copies of student artwork from body-mapping workshop.

Physician education grant

File contains correspondence, hand-written notes, project evaluation, project timelines and extensions, and contribution agreement between Ministry of Health and PWN.

Pocket guide for HIV+ women

The sub-series contains records related to Pocket Guide for Women Living with HIV/AIDS project. The pocket guide for women living with HIV was designed as a basic resource tool for women newly diagnosed with HIV. It was developed in consultation with HIV positive women, community AIDS workers, other social services providers and a literacy consultant. The result was a pocket sized (4 ½’ x 6”) folder with information sheets covering questions such as What is HIV? How does Hepatitis C affect HIV? PWN produced both a British Columbia edition, and a national edition in English and French.

Record types in the sub-series include project reports, letters of support for the project, financial records, requests for funding, layout of the pocket guides and timelines.
