The fonds consists of records collected by Clay Perry related to the International Woodworkers of America – Canada (IWA). It primarily consists of records generated by the union in the course of its operation, records created by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, who gathered surveillance on the IWA-Canada and its predecessors for several years, as well as research material collected and created by Perry himself, including transcripts of interviews, news clippings, scrapbooks, and pamphlets and booklets on unions in British Columbia.
The fonds is comprised of the following series: Union records series; Legal records and police files series; and Research materials series.

The Union records series contains records related to the main functions of the IWA, the WIUC, and IWA local chapters, including Local 1-357, of which Perry was a member. These functions included: financial administration, executive elections, producing literature and newsletters, strike activities, and correspondence. Record types include constitutions and by-laws of the union, conference materials, minutes of meetings, press releases, informational pamphlets, correspondence, bulletins and newsletters, news clippings, and executive reports.

The Legal records series contains records related to the IWA’s legal activities, including court disputes over negotiations, strikes, and employee and bargaining rights. It also contains records generated by the RCMP in gathering information on the IWA. Record types include court records, appeals, depositions, legal acts, and police reports on union activity.

The Research materials series comprises materials collected or created by Perry in his research of the history of the union. The series contains news-clippings and scrapbooks related to the IWA and the labour movement in Canada, research notes, transcripts of interviews and oral histories given by union members, publications related to the IWA, the labour movement, and communism, and theses of labour scholars on the IWA.

The fonds consists of records related to the operation of Inverness Cannery. Records span from the early 1900s all the way through to the 1950s when the cannery was closed and turned into a fish camp. The cannery was owned by J.H. Todd and Sons Ltd. from 1902-1950. The fonds is comprised of seven different series: Correspondence series, Financial series, Fish Canning series, Fish Catching series, Inverness Cannery School series, Legal series, and Publications, Pamphlets and News Clippings series.

The Irene Howard fonds consists of general correspondence and materials related to Howard's personal interests and associations, and materials relating to her work as researcher, literary agent and writer. The fonds is divided into eight series: Association involvement and general interest; Interview recordings; Photographs and maps; "Monday Morning" magazine issues; Literary activities; NDP campaigns materials; Materials related to Ronald Liversedge; and Gold dust on his shirt publication records. The Gold dust series is further subdivided into Publication records and Research records.

The fonds includes research notes, notebooks, file cards, photocopied materials from various sources, correspondence (with publishers, research subjects, colleagues, librarians and archivists), drafts of Howard's books and essays, biographical materials, newsletters, magazines, newspaper clippings, articles, pamphlets, brochures, photographs and cassette tapes.

Records pertain largely to Youngs acquisition and use of his British Columbia mineral claims during the early 1950s through to the early 1960s. Claims that Young acquired located near Lillooet, and were called the Anita, Sunrise and Margaret mineral claims. Claims acquired near Kamloops, and were called the Speed, Puzzle, and Last Chance mineral claims, and consisted of sodium carbonate and magnesium sulphate lakes. The records consist largely of correspondence, particularly between Young and Gilbert Spears and Young and those who sold him the mineral claims, but also with lawyers and potential clients such as pharmaceutical companies, timber plants, salt plants, and rubber plants. Records also include contracts and other legal documents. Eight photographs are contained in the file regarding the acquisition of the Basque salt lakes.
A small amount of records pertain to the production of a Christmas film in 1952 called Bethlehem, designed by an associate of Youngs. Young and his associate hoped to sell the filmstrip to the National Film Board with the potential for creating future films for them, and the images to a card company with the aim of making Christmas cards from them. Records consist of correspondence and a script.
The fonds is arranged into two series: Mineral Claims series, and Filmstrip series. The Mineral Claims series contains 6 files: Basque lakes, 1951-1952; Business correspondence, 1951-1953; Reports and contracts, 1952-1956; Spears Correspondence, 1958-1959; Business and Spears Correspondence, 1958-1959; Business and Spears Correspondence, 1958-1961. The Filmstrip series contains one file.

Fonds captures the life of Jack Pearcey in British Columbia in the 1920s when he was an engineering student at the University of British Columbia (class of 1927) and when he traveled the province as part of his work for the Geological Survey of Canada. Photographs depict Pearcey and his colleagues doing survey work in rural areas and feature such locations as Nakusp, Prosperity, Green Point, Wreck Bay, Victoria, Marmor Glacier, and Blair Glacier. Pearcey’s Geological Survey of Canada work in the Slocan region features Slocan, Slocan Lake, Kaslo, Kootenay Lake, Sandon, New Denver, and Carpenter Creek Valley. Photographs also depict Britannia Mine and miners, bunk houses, work camps, regional flora, UBC (including construction of the science building), camping/hiking, and more.

The fonds consists of a typescript of Whittaker's reminiscences, "My Sixty (60) Years in the Forest Industry", a poem by Elsie May Whittaker, a typescript and photocopy of "J.W. Whittaker Remembers Friends at Youbou", and selected photocopies from albums created by Whittaker.

The fonds consists of subject files, correspondence, financial records, plans, maps, specifications, contract rates and related material pertaining to contract 602-R for the building of submarines in Vancouver by British Pacific Engineering and Construction Company Ltd. (1917).

The fonds consists of a typed transcript of Ainsworth's autobiography written between 1877 and 1892.

The fonds consists of photographic negatives which depict the logging operations of the Englewood Logging Division of Canadian Forest Products in the Nimpkish Valley. The negatives were created by Pacey as well as the Nimpkish Lake Photography Club and the Englewood Logging Division Photograph Department of which he played a major role.

The fonds consists of John Goodwin’s professional career at MacMillan Bloedel. The bulk of the records relate to the Pine Hill, Alabama project by the Linerboard and Packaging Group. Additional records relate to pre-planning and long range studies on viability of production outside of B.C., including the US and UK sites. Several other projects included in this fonds relate to the Powell River region project, the Bag and Specialty division, and the Bulk Packaging division of MacMillan Bloedel. Specific administrative record types include: business assessments, historical reports, inter-office memos, strategy reviews, proposals, management strategies, strategic direction and long-range plans, and presentations.

The first part of the collection contains letters between Haldane from his mother, Mary Elizabeth Haldane (née Burdon Sanderson) and other family members regarding familial matters. These letters range from 1883 to1926. There are other letters pertaining to Mary Elizabeth Haldane and Edinburgh professors that are in the collection as well ranging from 1887 to 1922. Haldane’s personal documents, including his birth certificate and university certificates are also in this collection, ranging between 1878 to1897.

His reports, tables and correspondences are contained within, as well as his papers and speeches. These are largely undated and concern topics such as miners’ eye problems, tuberculosis in the Navy, regulation of normal breathing, functions of sweat, kinetic theory of gases, death by suffocation and the like. According to H.M. Sinclair: “Mrs. Haldane told me that her husband destroyed his MS as soon as the paper was published, and these lectures and addresses to various societies were not published. Haldane always wrote his addresses out in full, and this collection is mainly written in full in his own hand.”

A section of the collection contains reports and correspondence of Haldane’s work with the use of gas in WWI. H.M. Sinclair states that the collection is: “A most important collection of papers relating to his and Douglas's researches in World War I when gas was first used. Included are long autograph letters from Douglas (who was in the field in France), very out spoken about the military authorities and giving full descriptions of the casualties and attempts to prevent them.”

Finally, there are 2 drafts of an unpublished book written by Haldane on vitalistic physiology. H.M. Sinclair notes that: “The first draft is copiously corrected . . . This has been entirely rewritten in nine chapters of the final draft. . . . This very interesting book was never published, but illustrates the state of physiology at the turn of the century as seen by a young graduate of about 30 years.”

The fonds consists of a notebook, notes, clippings, reports, speeches, correspondence, subject files, and printed material relating mainly in his union activities and concerns over safety issues on the job and leadership issues in the union. There are subject files relating to his union trial when he was suspended for actions detrimental to the best interests of the IWA that pertain to the disagreements between the "reds" and "whites" factions within the IWA in the 1940s.

The fonds consists of Work's handwritten diary of a trip from Fort Simpson to the Queen Charlotte Islands (May 13-26, 1851) to investigate the reported gold discoveries there.

The fonds consists of both research notes relating to Lawrence's 1957 M.A. thesis Markets and capital: a history of the lumber industry of British Columbia (1778-1952); and later notes, clippings, and publications dealing with politics and the B.C. forest industry which were inter-filed with the thesis material.

Fonds consists of textual records and published materials produced or acquired by Keith Ralston primarily through his historical research and other professional activities, along with a small selection of personal materials. It is arranged in the following ten series, which largely reflect how the records arrived in their original order: Department of History, Thesis, Dictionary of Canadian Biography, Cowichan Fishing Case, Public Record Office, Hudson’s Bay Company Research, Research, Associations, Personal, and Day Books.

The fonds consists of two minute books for the Lamb Lumber Company, 1912-1960, and one minute book for the Lamb Investment Company, 1928-1963.

These books detailed Copans daily activities (including shifts, positions and remuneration), in addition to which company he was working for. Two series have been created to reflect this information, and include time books and work record books.

Fonds consists of research and teaching materials, reports, publications, speeches, correspondence, interviews, written memoirs, and other documents related to Reed's career in the forestry industry.

Series have been imposed by the archivist according to Reed's roles in Canadian government and forestry legislation, consulting in the private sector, research and instruction in the Faculty of Forestry at UBC, and expert testimony in forestry-related court cases, respectively. Unless otherwise noted, file names and order as they were given by the records creator have been respected.

The fonds consists of material relating to the business activities of Letson & Burpee, Ltd., machinery manufacturers and founders. It includes blueprint plans of machinery used in the cannery industry, ten printed catalogues, correspondence (1893), and photographs and clippings pertaining to the machinery industry including detailed descriptions of fish canning machinery.

The fonds consists of correspondence, addresses, reports, printed materials, field notes and clippings relating to Knapp's professional interests and activities. In addition, the fonds contains course materials, minutes of meetings, and administrative records relating to the UBC Faculty of Forestry. The fonds also contains photographs and slides documenting the Faculty of Forestry and its students as well as the University Research Forest.

The Milnor Roberts fonds consists of letters, reports, notes, accounts, drawings and maps, photographs and printed material relating to his mine field work. Much of the material relates to the work carried out near Camp Robertson and Camp Wilson on behalf of Western Coal and Iron. Roberts' reports to Metropolitan Trust Co., New York, concerned lands acquired by the company from Western Steel Corporation in 1913.

The fonds includes business and ministerial correspondence, legal documents, the records of Robert A. Grant, a materials cost price diary (1927) and daily journals (1925, 1926, 1935).

Fonds consists of textual records which document Dr. Marchak's scholarship and related professional and administrative activities, and includes correspondence, reports, typescripts of speeches and articles, written notes, contracts, journal off-prints, course materials, conference packages, and newspaper and magazine clippings.

Some series are further divided into sub-series. Within each series and sub-series, the records have mostly been retained in their original order.

The fonds consists of correspondence, reports, scrapbooks and printed material relating to O'Neal's activities, mainly in the field of union organization (ca. 1965-1975).

Subseries consists of an acquisition by Doug Cox of a Collection of photographic negatives from the newspaper The Penticton Herald.
Coverage includes themes such as the cultural events, sports, rodeo, telecommunications, buildings and community infrastructure, aviation, industry, disasters.

The fonds consists of photographs of early logging in British Columbia, including those of the Knox Bay Camp (1890s-1929), and Anderson's reminiscences about his life.

The collection consists of archival records, printed materials, photographs, maps, posters, artefacts and paintings all related to the Klondike Gold Rush. Records span the activities of individuals, organizations, companies, and government bodies related to the Klondike Gold Rush, the Yukon, Alaska, and the Northwest Territories from ca. 1860 to 2003. The collection documents the journeys of, and commerce created by individuals and groups of people from around the world who left their homes to join the Gold Rush; it also contains materials documenting the presence of Indigenous peoples throughout the Yukon.

The collection reflects the development of regional infrastructure and transportation in the Yukon and Alaska, including the creation of the White Pass and Yukon Route railway line. Many materials in the fonds originated from the construction and development of specific town sites and communities located in the Yukon, including Dawson City, Carcross, Forty Mile, and White Horse.

Other materials document the creative works of individuals seeking to record and share stories about the Klondike in various forms, including photographs, journals, poetry, music and theatre.

The collection is comprised of the following series: Textual Records, Photographic Materials, Cartographic Materials, Graphic Materials, and Objects. Each series is majorly comprised of the record type described in the title, and materials within each series are described at the item level.

The fonds consists of general correspondence (1937-1991), personal correspondence files (1950-1985), and miscellaneous personal records. Fonds also includes lecture notes, outlines and other materials relating to courses taught by Haddock at University of Washington, University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University (1954-1982). In addition, the fonds contains records of his participation with the UBC Speakers Bureau (1976-1987) and subject files.
