Manuscripts – Published Works series

Series consists of typewritten manuscript drafts, many of which include handwritten notes and annotations of works by Kevin Chong that were eventually published, broadcast, or performed. They are arranged into sub-series: Books, Short Fiction, Broadcast Works, and Stage Works. Within each sub-series, files documenting each work are grouped and arranged chronologically by the work’s publication date.

Some manuscripts have dates included with them, and these are noted in the file list. Dates in square brackets are estimates, either provided by Chong or inferred by the materials themselves.

Miscellaneous series

Series includes CVs, correspondence, written notes, photographs, and a CD-DA recording of an interview with Kevin Chong.

Academic work series

Series consists of articles and other works written by Dr. Lawrence Lowe, by himself or in collaboration with others. Also included is Lowe’s 1994 curriculum vitae.

Chapman Awards series

Series consists of records documenting the Chapman Awards, which recognize outstanding student volunteer involvement and leadership. Records include correspondence, reports, and student applications. Files are arranged in chronological order.

Publications series

The Publications series consists of Peterat's many publications and works that appeared in anthologies, journals, and reports.

Manufacturing Consent Companion Book series

Series consists of research material specifically collected for the book, correspondence, manuscripts, graphic material and publicity materials relating to the creation and publication of the companion book to the movie Manufacturing Consent. The series also includes several versions of working manuscripts, most of which are annotated, copies of the published book in digital and analogue form.

Post-production and Publicity series

Series consists of clippings, circulars, media releases, media kits and other promotional material relating to the film Manufacturing Consent. Series also includes movie release information, film festival programs and awards, correspondence and articles published in response to the film’s release and educational materials prepared alongside the TV and VHS releases of the film. It also includes some graphic material ready for the promotion of the film.

Artifacts series

Series consists of three artifacts, including a drawing of Cyrus Bowers, grandfather of Mary Bollert; a mailing tube used by Grace Bollert, sister of Mary Bollert, to house a number of her degrees; and a Coronation Medal and letter sent from Buckingham Palace to Mary Bollert to commemorate the coronation of King George VI.

School, Coursework and Students series

This series contains records related to Craddock’s role at the University of British Columbia and as a teacher at various institutes and outside seminars. It includes course syllabi, slides and presentation materials, registration forms, and administrative records related to graduate students.

Conferences and Workshops series

This series consists of records related to attending, planning, hosting and managing various conferences, including various particle accelerators Conferences, Cyclotrons conferences, SNOWMASS and others. It also includes records related to TRIUMF workshops for the public and those offered at scientific conferences.

TRIUMF History, Origin and Texts series

This series contains records related to TRIUMF documenting its history – including Craddock’s interviews with various key figures, drafts of and correspondence related to the TRIUMF book, obituaries, and records of the TRIUMF Retiree’s Association.

Jewish Community series

Series contains materials about Steinberg’s work on behalf of the Jewish community, including information on the Canadian Jewish Congress and the creation of Jewish schools in Vancouver.

Photos and Albums series

Series consists of a small file of loose photographs that show honorary degree conferrals and two large albums that include photographs, newspaper clippings, certifications and letters.

Math Works series

This project initially only included a series of six books (a student and teacher book for grades 10, 11, and 12) developed for the Alberta Ministry of Education. The contract was awarded to PEP after an initial proposal was made to the Ministry. The project was later expanded to include student workbooks to supplement the textbooks and similar books for grade 10 for New Brunswick.

Series consists of documentation of the Math Works series and includes book proposals, minutes, drafts, editorial notes and reports, and correspondence. It is arranged in subseries based on the book title.

Affecting Eternity series

Affecting Eternity was published in 2007. The book went through several title changes – considered titles include Building bridges, and Conflict and compromise. Series consists of drafts and correspondence.

Music of India series

This book was originally intended to be part of a Music in Our Lives series. PEP planned to publish the book in 1992 but could not do so because of financial constraints. However, PEP was able to publish the book the following year. Series consists of drafts and correspondence.

The Impact of TIMSS series

This book was published in 2000 by PEP – its full title was The Impact of TIMSS on the Teaching and learning of Mathematics and Science. It consists of summaries of the impact of the Third International Science Study (TIMSS) in 29 of the more than 50 countries that participated in TIMSS. Due to the global nature of the book, there were numerous contributing authors from around the world – someone from that country wrote the chapter for each country. Series consists of drafts, editorial notes, and correspondence.

LiDKit series

The LiDKit project was part of the Learning in Depth Program, collaborating with the Imaginative Education Research Group. The purpose of the program was to encourage students to engage in various types of educational activities by focusing on one specific subject. Series consists of correspondence, drafts, and editorial notes.

The Golden Rose series

The Golden Rose is a novel published by PEP in 1996. It is a historical fiction novel intended for young adults, most likely middle school age. There was also a teacher resource created to help teachers, which included various exercises and discussion questions. Series consists of editorial notes and correspondence.

Sima7 series

The books in this project were published in 1991. The project consisted of a book for students and a teacher’s guide and was intended for elementary students. It was created to promote cultural understanding and relations and is filled with stories from different First Nations groups, such as the Hopi, Iroquois, Inuit, and Maya. Series consists of drafts and editorial notes.

All the Colours of the Rainbow series

The books in this project were published in 1990. The project included both a student book and a teachers’ guide. The student book, intended for younger elementary students, is filled with stories of students from different ethnic backgrounds and their experiences with their culture. This was part of Alternatives to Racism’s attempt to raise awareness of multiculturalism in Canadian schools. The teachers’ guide contains activities and learning objectives for each story. Series consists of drafts and correspondence.

A Sea Lion called Salena series

The book is a children’s novel published by PEP in 1994. The story’s main character is a young girl named Kristie. Kristie discovers an injured sea lion pup when her best friend moves away. Series consists of a draft of the story.

Making Textiles Matter series

This book was published by PEP in 1999. It focuses on fifteen exceptional textile studies programmes to figure out why they work so well. The book appears intended for teacher education classes or home economics teachers in the field. Series consists of correspondence.

Film noir series

Series contains mainly film noir black & white stills and colour lobby cards. Some film stills have been cropped. Other materials include: insert posters, press kits/catalogues offering promotional materials for films and clippings of film advertisements.

ACTRA series

Series includes materials relating to Saltzman’s membership and involvement in the organization ACTRA (Association of Canadian Television and Radio Artists before 1984, which currently stands for the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists.) Saltzman was president of ACTRA-Toronto in 1960. Materials include scripts, contracts, correspondence, and legal documents.

Correspondence series

Series consists of Mattessich’s personal and professional correspondence and related documents and includes correspondence (written, typescript, and e-mail), notes, copies of publications, and copies of contracts/agreements. Some were in folders when the Archives acquired the fonds, while others were found loose and reorganized during processing. The files are arranged mainly in chronological order.

Personal and Biographical series

Series consists of records of a personal and/or biographical nature and includes Mattessich’s old textbooks, a copy of his dissertation from the University of Vienna, copies of his CV and publication lists, correspondence, his honorary degrees and other certificates with related documentation, a video recording of his honorary degree ceremony at the University of Malaga, other personal documents, and manuscript copies of his memoir Foundational Research In Accounting – Professional memoirs and beyond (1995, revised 2015). The files are arranged largely in chronological order.

Teaching series

The series consists of records documenting Mattessich’s teaching activities and includes student papers and course materials (including transparencies presumably used in lectures). The materials are arranged largely in chronological order.

Committees series

Series consists of records which document committees within the Faculty of Commerce / Sauder School of Business and includes minutes, reports, and correspondence. It is organized alphabetically by file title. It includes one sub-series for the Teaching Development Committee.

Programmes series

Series consists of records documenting academic and research programmes instituted by the Faculty of Commerce / Sauder School of Business and includes reports, correspondence, course curricula, and published materials. It is arranged alphabetically by file title.

Public-Private Partnerships series

Series consists of records which document course development and research conducted at the Sauder School of Business into the mechanics and viability of public-private partnerships (P3) for funding and operating public services and development projects and includes reports, grant proposals, correspondence, and course materials. It is arranged primarily in chronological order.

Alumni Relations series

Series consists of records documenting Commerce/Sauder’s relations with its alumni and the UBC Alumni Association and includes correspondence, reports, financial documents, and published materials. It is arranged alphabetically by file title.

Angus Building Redevelopment series

Series consists of records which document the renovation and renewal of Sauder’s administrative, research, and teaching space in the Henry Angus Building and includes correspondence, minutes, architects’ drawings, reports, and published materials. It is arranged alphabetically by file title.

UBC Consultancy Project – Kuwait Institute for Business and Technology series

Series consists of correspondence (internal and external), minutes, drafts, curricula and reports. It is arranged in the following sub-series: Office Materials, Drafts, Final Reports and Initial Proposal and Future Involvement in KIBT. Titles are based on the contents of the series and original titles. Note: Kuwait Institute for Business and Technology, abbreviated to KIBT.

Publications series

Series consists of materials published by the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration / Sauder School of Business and the Commerce Undergraduate Society and includes yearbooks, faculty and student rosters, journals/periodicals, and programme brochures.

SVEN Survey series

Series consists of questionnaires and reading passage transcriptions created during the SVEN study. SVEN resulted in 252 labelled questionnaires; 57 of these had red marks, with an unknown purpose, on the label. 25 questionnaires were retained, 8 with red label marks. Series features Questionnaires and a Reading Passage Transcriptions subseries.

Audio Recordings series

Series consists of copies of recordings of the interviews done during the SVEN portion of the study. The originals were created between 1979 and 1982. The copies were created in the late 1980s and early 1990s. These recordings are listed in the Archive’s Audio/Visual Binder under AT 3788: 1-242.

Diaries series

Series consists of bound and unbound diaries collected by William Bruneau. There are large gaps from the early 1970s to 1984. Series contains 1984-2006, inclusive.
