Fonds consists of slides, clippings, correspondence, and other documents related to the building of the Carpentry Training Centre in Nicaragua and the development of a carpentry training program. Included are documents related to the hiring of instructors and to financial and material donations to the project, as well as pamphlets from various organisations involved in solidarity efforts with Nicaragua, and materials providing background information about the political and socio-economic situation in Nicaragua during the 1980s.

Clippings and published materials

File contains various clippings and publications in English and in Spanish. These are related to organisations involved with solidarity efforts in Nicaragua, and to current events in and around Central America. The reports "Surviving the Siege" and "Hope Under Siege," published by the BC-Nicaragua Solidarity Committee, are included.

The order of items within the file has been respected, with the exception of the removal of some unpublished documents, which are found in File 1-1.

Correspondence and documentation

File consists of correspondence, handwritten notes, reports, equipment lists, meeting minutes, financial statements, and other documents related to the Carpenter's Project, to the involvement of CUSO, to the hiring of carpentry instructors, and to the labour and political situations in Nicaragua. Several published items are also included.

File consists of correspondence and documentation related to the hiring of carpentry instructors for the Carpenter's Project. Also included are several phone messages, and an interim report regarding CUSO's involvement in the project.

These items were found together in a folder and their order within the file has been respected.

Reports

File consists of reports about the building of the school in Nicaragua and the development of the carpentry training program. Contained in this series is a proposal written in Spanish, with an accompanying translation, that was presented to Sinaforp and the CST (Sandinista Trade Union Centre) by Chryse Gibson and Leo Eutsler.
