The financial secretary is a salaried and elected executive member within the Union ; his position is mandated by the Union's constitution . Originally called the secretary treasurer in the 1945 Constitution, the title was changed to financial secretary in 1961 . Both the secretary treasurer and financial secretary successfully carried out their constitutionally appointed functions. This involved having responsibility for the financial obligations of the Union, such as members dues, bank accounts , bill payments, being audited, and reporting to the CCU . As well as the mandated functions, both the secretary treasurer and the financial secretary administered the various union benefit funds . The position was held by E. Lehman (1945), D. Nelson (1945), B .G . Lane (1945-1950), T . Brown (1950-1952), Ossie Simpson (1952-1959), and Ronald Grant (1959-1980) .
