[Professor John Galbraith on an expedition]

Image of three men pulling a canoe ashore. One of the men in the photograph is identified as Professor John Galbraith, who was a Professor of Engineering at the School of Practical Science (which merged with the University of Toronto in 1906. Inscription on verso reads, "A pioneer in the field of conservation Professor John Galbraith O.L.S. D.L.S on one of his many voyages of discovery.

Note by an unknown author and recipient. It reads: "I find that the library of our department has 3 copies of this most interesting report by Major Burwash and there is also a copy in the National Archives, Geological Survey Museum, and RCMP libraries. Ottawa is therefore provided. It seems to me that other research libraries such as the University of Toronto would wish to have a copy, perhaps Prof. Carpenter. Our librarian was unable to suggest a price as he calls it a 'collection item'."
