Lists of members, names of executives, dues statements, labour legislation, benefit plans, membership applications, applications to represent groups of workers and to void agreements, manuals, pamphlets, newsletters, agreements, etc. are included among the material.

The fonds consists of diaries, scrapbooks, and correspondence spanning the period 1910-2003 and related to the professional and personal lives of three generations of the Bamford family—William Blackley Bamford, his son William Blackley Stanley Bamford, and his grandson William Huestis Bamford—as well as to members of the Lasell and Ord families, related by marriage to William Huestis Bamford. Diaries in the fonds include concise “five year” or “line a day” diaries, as well as more detailed daily journals and many cover aspects of the Bamfords’ professional and personal life.
Scrapbooks in the fonds, which contain newspaper clippings, ephemera, correspondence, photographs, notes, and other material, primarily reflect the Bamfords’ personal interests, but also interests their chosen professions and employers, including the Canadian Pacific Railway Company and the Bank of Montreal. Beyond the incoming and outgoing personal and professional correspondence included in the scrapbooks, the Esther Adelina Lasell Bamford series contains incoming correspondence related to a branch of the Ord family living in New Zealand.

Jean Sheils Research Collection
The research collection consists of textual records, newspaper clippings, documents, photographs, printed material, photographs, audio cassettes, and a VHS video cassette relating to the life of Arthur Evans, the On-to-Ottawa Trek Committee, the On-to-Ottawa Historical Society, and the publication, Work and Wages! . Rough drafts, research notes and material, correspondence, interviews, and Regina Riot Inquiry transcripts are part of Jean Sheils' work in co-writing Work and Wages.The On-to-Ottawa Historical Society material covers the records generated by the 1992 production of the On-to-Ottawa video, which was directed by Sara Diamond and co-produced with the Women's Labour History Project. In addition, there are files and photographs created by Jean Sheils to document the lives of Arthur "Slim" Evans and his wife, Ethel Evans between 1920 and 1944.

The fonds is comprised of 4 series; Political Papers series, Correspondence and Biographies series, Education and Employment Records series, and Community Activities series. Materials related to Indigenous arts, education and reconciliation are found throughout the fonds. Correspondence is its own series and is also found throughout, including copies of outgoing business correspondence.

Webber (Family)
Consists of George North's research material on the fishing industry in British Columbia, and on the organization of the fishermen's labour unions. The research material includes letters inward and outward concerning his commission by the UFAWU ; his early manuscript, later typescripts, and edited typescripts for the book A Ripple, A Wave; original and photocopied records of Inverness Cannery ; extensive notes taken on the above records and local newspapers . Other material relates to his teacher training at the University of British Columbia. There is also a collection of published material .
North, George
Fonds contains 171 letters from Tom McEwen spanning the decades from 1944 to 1976, and 4 letters from his wife, Rose McEwen; her sister, Anne Belenkaya; and Norman McEwen, Tom and Rose’s son, and his family. Lily Greene remained friends with both Tom and his family for many years, so the letters are mostly of a personal nature but many contain discussions of, or references to, issues important to the Communist Party in Canada and elsewhere, including Tom’s observations of and opinions on events occuring both at home and internationally, like the Vietnam war.
There are 22 photographs of Tom McEwen and various family members, as well as copies of photographs of Lily’s children. A clippings file contains an assortment of newspaper clippings, some columns and opinion pieces written by Tom McEwen, with the majority on issues or events concerning a member of the McEwen family. The clippings cover the period from 1950 through to 2000.
The fonds also contains two essays written by Tom McEwen and an audiocassette of a talk he gave in 1974 to a Grade 11 class taught by his grandson, Harry Ewen. The cassette also contains a recording of a CBC program “This Morning” that aired in 2000 and which incorporated that lecture as part of the program.

Greene, Lily (Steinman)
Fonds consists primarily of material related to Rush's activities as a leader of the CCP, political activist and writer in Vancouver from 1935 to 1996. There is also a personal/biographical series of records which detail the events of Rush's life. Other textual series in this fonds contain drafts of Rush's writings and public speeches, his correspondence, his reports and speeches to party conventions, and his published materials. There is a photographs series which details Rush's various editorial political trips to socialist countries during the Cold War. The memorabilia series also contains material related to Rush's trips abroad. There are pins, medals and commemorative coins from China, Vietnam and the Soviet Union. Finally, an audiocassette series contains recordings of some of Rush's speeches during the 1970s and 1980s.

The fonds consists of records of the Howe Sound Company Britannia Division and the Britannia Mining and Smelting Company which document a variety of functions including personnel, payroll and accounting, financial and income tax reporting, accident reporting, insurance planning, mineral exploration, and negotiations with the International Mine Mill Workers' Union and the International Mine Metal and Smelter Workers' Union. The fonds consists of minutes, photographs, printed material, and correspondence relating mainly to union organization in the forest products industry (1931-1952), including the Lumber Workers' Industrial Union, Lumber and Saw Mill Workers Union, International Woodworkers of America, and Woodworkers Industrial Union of Canada, as well as to the activities of Harold Pritchett, whose correspondence up to 1979 is also included. There are, in addition, reports of convention, materials concerning wages and conditions in logging camps, a poster, and subject files on various strikes including those at Fraser Mills and Blubber Bay (1933-1944).

The fonds consists of general and executive board minutes (1904-1976), minutes of unit meetings (1948-1976) and various locals including South Slocan, Local 999 Castlegar, Penticton, Trail, and Kelowna. It also includes trial board records pertaining to the Lenkurt Electric Company dispute (1966-1967).

International Longshoremen's and Warehousemen's Union fonds
The fonds consists of correspondence, agreements, subject files, work records, press releases, printed material and minutes pertaining to the activities of the union. Minutes of the Prince Rupert local and Great Northern Railway Section of Dock Employees for locals 501 and 507 are included. Subject files contain information on foremen's disputes and other strikes. The tapes consist of Canadian Area convention proceedings and caucus meetings. The cassette tapes were generated by an oral history project carried out by members of the ILWU Local 500 which led to a publication entitled "Man Along the Shore".
International Longshoremen's and Warehousemen's Union (Canada)
The collection consists of correspondence, financial records and ephemera. There is correspondence from employees (managers) of the Kettle Valley Railway Co. (K.V.R.) and the Canadian Pacific Railway Co. (C.P.R.) relating to derailment, Chinese labour and housing and the building of railway lines. C.P.R. Superintendent Thomas Daly's letter press book includes outgoing letters from Daly to various C.P.R. employees pertaining to operations in the Nicomin area, east of Lytton in the Fraser Canyon, ca. 1881-1882. In addition, there are journals which describe railway employment and travel in 1910 and 1911. The activity and pay logs, coupon ticket books, pilot house log books and time books relate to certain aspects of the railway industry in Penticton, York, Okanagan Landing, Vancouver, and Victoria.
The fonds consists of materials relating to the Cooperative Commonwealth Federation (CCF) of Vancouver. Included are records of the East Vancouver District Council of the CCF (1949-1951), the cashbook of Cedar Cottage CCF Club (1944-1951), general correspondence and CCF election literature and pamphlets.

The collection consists of typescript interviews relating to British Columbia labour history and labour education conducted by Colleen Toppings and Paul Phillips in 1964. Also includes typescripts of Paul Phillips' "No Power Greater - A Century of Labour in B.C." (1967) and press clippings discussing the interview project.
The fonds consists of a notebook, notes, clippings, reports, speeches, correspondence, subject files, and printed material relating mainly in his union activities and concerns over safety issues on the job and leadership issues in the union. There are subject files relating to his union trial when he was suspended for actions detrimental to the best interests of the IWA that pertain to the disagreements between the "reds" and "whites" factions within the IWA in the 1940s.

The fonds consists of a typescript of Dent's article on B.C.'s first nurses' strike in 1980, two articles on nurses' collective bargaining, and a staff representative manual for the Registered Nurses' Association of B.C. The records of Greenpeace International within this fonds reflect their broader campaigns to inform people and shape public opinion to oppose the clearcutting of old growth forests in Canada and elsewhere in the World. This fonds contains records of the Service, Office and Retail Workers Union of Canada (SORWUC) from their active life between 1972 and 1986. The records pertain to the functioning of the National Headquarters, Local sections and the union as a whole within its communities. The content of the records is primarily focused in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, but the union's influence reaches a national level including activity in the prairies, Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes. While the central concern of SORWUC was directly related to unionization, the records also concern feminist activity and the pursuance of equal rights for women in society. The material is in the form of correspondence, financial records and statements, various publications, and photographs.

Many of the participants were prominent members of the New Democratic Party. The fonds is arranged into series based on Thomas's activities. Records relating to the NDP have been divided into the New Democratic Party of Canada series, the New Democratic Party of British Columbia, Point Grey series and the New Democratic Party Vancouver Area Council series. There are also separate New Democratic Party Participation of Women Committee and New Democratic Party of British Columbia Standing Committee on Women's Rights series.
The fonds also contains records related to Thomas's activism in many areas. Thomas was an active member of many activist organizations, and these organizations comprise the Committee to Defend Political Prisoners in Quebec series, the Endowment Lands Regional Park Committee series, the BC Federation of Labour series, the Women's Selection Committee for Women's Health Advisory Committee to the Vancouver Health Board series, and the BC Federation of Women series.
Thomas also kept subject files and correspondence related to her activism that included material from several organizations, or from none. These records have been grouped into series based on the subject, including the Vietnam War series, the Women and Peace series, the Human Rights series, the Feminism Subject Files series, the Anti-nuclear war subject file series and the Labour Activities subject file series.
The fonds contains records from Thomas's time as a professor in the University of British Columbia series. Student essays written by Thomas are in the Student essays series. Thomas's research on Malcolm Lowry comprises a separate series.
