[Canada and the United States 1886]

An album of photographs from throughout Canada, with a few from the United States as well. The photos do not appear to be in an order that suggests a journey, but are perhaps from different trips across the country. The album spine is totally gone, but the photos are still in fairly good shape.

Views of British Columbia & Alaska

A book of printed drawings, by an unknown artist, of British Columbia and Alaska, published by M.W. Waitt & Co. booksellers in Victoria B.C. [Charles Macmunn Album]

A collection of photographs throughout British Columbia and into Alberta by Charles Macmunn (sometimes spelled MacMunn, McMunn, McMann) bound in a large album. The album was included in the final lot of images sold by Macmunn family.

Macmunn, Charles

[Album of Portraits]

An album of portraits taken at various studios throughout the United States, predominantly in Iowa. This album is from the estate of one Mr. Abramson, a former Consul General of the United States to Canada. The name Emma L. Murer appears in the front of the album, and she is believed to be the creator. It is likely that the album represents a large extended family; the connection to Abramson is unknown. Also included are an invitation to the wedding of Hattie Johnston to Joe Petty in August of 1883, and a card reading "Compliments of Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Ammonds, At Home, Wednesday Eve., Sept. 5th". The album spine is badly damaged, though the images are largely in very good shape.

Photographs Pacific Railway Survey British Columbia 1875

An album of photographs by Charles Horetzky taken during a Pacific Railway survey between June and September of 1875, looking for a Northern route for the railway. The photos are predominantly along the Homathko River (spelled Homathco here) starting from the mouth of the Bute Inlet. There is also one photo of Victoria from the same period. The photographs are numbered and have captions indicating their location. Both the album and the photos are in very good condition.

[Jock Taylor's Travels]

An album of photographs, possibly assembled by Jock Taylor. At least some of the photos were taken by ‘Bodurtha’. Others were taken by Frederick Dally (many available through Library and Archives Canada). The images are believed to depict travels as part of the British Navy mainly aboard the HMS Zealous. Predominantly taken in 1870 and 1871 in South America, the United States, and British Columbia, it also includes images from Egypt in 1885. The photos are housed in a tattered blue album with the images glued onto the pages. Many photos include captions, though the writing is fading, and sometimes is recopied more legibly.

Taylor, Jock

[Family Portraits]

An album of personal and family portraits; it is not known if it depicts only one extended family or not. The album itself is covered in purple suede and has silver ornamentation.
